Cruise and BIB Pickup – Thurs Nov 2nd

Statue of Liberty

In order to see a bit of New York while also keeping my husband off his legs we did a Circle line cruise. It was supposed to go all the way around the island, but t he e tide was too high to get through. We went as far as we could up the East River then back. We got a good view of the Statue of Liberty, the bridges and the skyline.

Lunch was dell’anima at the Gotham Market. We sat up at the chef’s counter and watched the cooking. The pasta was good and perfect for carb-loading.

After lunch we popped over to the Javits Centre to pick up my husband’s BIB for the New York Marathon and checkout the runners exhibition.

While on our way back to the hotel I stopped and had a peak in the New York Public Library at Bryant Park.

For dinner I walked down to Los Tacos No 1 in Times Square. It was a bit of a madhouse with a queue out the door and the place packed with people. I decided to wait anyway. I had no other plans for the night. I tried a chicken quesadilla, a pork taco and a beef taco. It was all great. You eat standing at the counters. It was a challenge finding a spot but being just one person I managed to squeeze in.

  1. The last time I visited NYC was in 2000. I really want to go back.

  2. **energetically waves hands** hello from New Jersey!!! We are not too far. Happy to see you are enjoying the Big Apple. The Waldorf (hotel) has a great bar, also by Bryan park there is Keen’s steakhouse- so good if you like steaks/pork chops. Sorry can’t help to give recs- I love NYC 🙂

  3. I’m so glad you went to the library, it’s so beautiful. When you’re in the crowds of that part of town, it’s hard to imagine there are quiet neighborhoods in Manhatten, but there are. I’m glad you’re enjoying it!

  4. Great pictures. I was in New York breifly when my son played water polo in school there. He was not in the city, so I just popped in for a quick visit and didn’t really see much. I guess you know a restaurant is great if there is a line out the door.

  5. We did the baoting tour all the way around and it was really fun. I enjoyed it and also the views when you leave the busieness behind.

I wished I went into the library. We passed it at night when it was closed and never made it back.

Times Square though killed me. So many people, so many lights. But its been a decade since I. was there…

  6. I am just catching up on the NaBloPoMo posts from the last couple of days and all your pictures from New York really made me want to go. When I visited my dad in Germany I also met up with an old school friend who recently went to New York and was super excited about the city. Makes me really determined to visit sometime soon.
