Let me ask you this.
To Begin With, The Sweet Grass by Mary Oliver

what would do for you?
Superb Fairy Wrens were crowned the Australian 2021 bird of the year, and I can understand why. They are certainly my favourite local bird. The males have beautiful blue plumage, and the little birds certainly are “tiny little balls of pure joy.” We used to have a group come each year into the wattle at the back of my childhood home, but I hadn’t seen a blue one since my early teenage years. We moved bayside late last year, and you can imagine my delight seeing them on an evening walk last summer. Excuse the poor-quality photo above, but all I had was my iPhone, and they do dart around a lot. Since then, I’ve been on the lookout for more and last Sunday, on my long run, I saw a group with a male with stunning bright blue on his head. He was visible for probably less than a minute before darting into the thick bushes, but it made my day.

I love this, and I adore the linked description of these birds– how perfect.
What a beautiful bird. It’s amazing how being outside and surrounded by nature can really lift your mood and turn your day into a spectacular one!
Here from San’s blog to say hello!
A bird called Superb Fairy Wren kind of has to live up to the expectation of its name, doesn’t it? So pretty!
What a lovely bird. I don’t think we have them over here…. one thing I noticed when moving away from my home country is how diverse and different the animal world is in different parts of the world! It pays off to really pay attention to your surroundings when you’re out and about 😉
This was nice! I like the Mary Oliver poem as well. Oh, and I also love the name of this bird- Superb Fairywrens? They sound magical.
It’s always a pleasant thing to dicsover a bird or some new species. I often wonder if they are always around and we are just to busy to spot them. mI ve definitly seen a lot of different birds now that i live at the water. Its so fun. That blue must be gorgous in real life.
I am on SUCH a Mary Oliver kick lately – I just love her poetry. Thanks for sharing <3
