October’s Books in 25 words

Summarising in 25 words what was most noteworthy to me from the books I finished this month.

A Public Missiology: How Local Churches Witness to a Complex World -Gregg Okesson

Exploring the importance of thick theology and community of local congregations, coupled with movement between the congregation and the surrounding public spheres for Christian witness.

How to Be Perfect: The Correct Answer to Every Moral Question – Michael Schur

LIght-hearted summary of the main moral theories for complete beginners who aren’t interested in dry philosophy but go somewhere else to understand the God-morality connection.

The Eye of the world (The Wheel of Time #1) – Robert Jordan

The first part of what is going to be an epic quest. From what I can remember, the book is different to the TV show.

What I Stand for Is What I Stand on – Wendell Berry

A short book with four essays calling us to “understand the earth in terms of what it offers us” and “what it requires of us.”

Lethal White (Cormoron Strike #4) – Robert Galbraith

As always, a riveting plotline that has some surprising twists and turns. I’m glad Robin finally got rid of her borderline coercive controlling, abusive boyfriend-turned-husband.

  1. What a fun concept to note down books in 25 words.
I have watched the Wheel of time show but I can image the books are great. I see if I can get it through the library one of those days.

  2. My BIL just finished WoT and he keeps recommending it to me, but I’m not sure if I’m up to that saga just yet. Have you read Realm of the Elderlings by Robin Hobb?

    1. I haven’t read any Robin Hobb. Will have to take a look.
