5 Things I learnt this year

  • If you go out to watch the sunset. Wait a little while after the sun has fully dropped. Often you will get a flare-up that is more spectacular than the actual sunset.
      • You can access the original style feed (reverse chronological posts of your followers) in instagram by pressing the down arrow next to the Instrgram logo up the top of the home screen. No scrambled, promoted or sponsored posts … in facebook it’s the feeds tab. (I learnt this from someone’s blog or newsletter but I can’t remember whose)
      • I eat more veggies, and a bigger variety of veggies, when I order a mixed box for delivery, then menuplan around that. We put that on hold while we moved but I plan to restart ordering from CERES once we’re in our new place.
      • Something I didn’t know I wanted until staying at my parents apartment – motorised curtains. I love lying in bed, pushing the button to open the curtains. Then doing my morning pages and prayer time bathed in the morning light.
      • Keep your food covered when out and about on the sunshine coast. These cheeky kookaburras stole my roll right out of my hand.

      What have you leanrt recently?

I have learned how a kookaburra looks like thanks to you. There was a kids song I learned quite a while back that mentioned kookaburras. Since I did not know them I wanted to look them up but I forgot until just now.

I learned how fun it is to say the word kookaburras!!

I’ve learned lately that doing a bit of maintenance cleaning a few times a week is SO much easier (and, in the long run, takes less time) than leaving things to accumulate and then having to do a deep clean.

You’re right about maintenance cleaning vs deep cleaning. As the kids got older, they took over the after-dinner cleanup, but they often forget to wipe next to the stove, and the next morning it’s dried, and I have to scrub it.

I knew about the IG feed, but yes, that’s a really good tip! And the same goes for the sunsets – the light after the sun is actually down is most terrific!

I recently learned that a fake TV fireplace is better than no fireplace at all – haha.
