Oxford Day 3: Long Run and Ashmolean Museum

Thursday 1st May

Today was my last day in Oxford so I got up reasonably early and went for my (longish) run. It was less than 1 km and I was out and running through rural areas. I did a big loop along the Thames to Godstow, round Port Meadows, with a short out and back along the Oxford Canal. It was stunning. I really enjoyed this run, even though my fitness had taken a dive with the travel.

That took about 1.5 hours. Once back in my hotel I showered, packed and checked out. I left my bags there and went for breakfast at the Oxford Brunch Bar. This time I had the Sunshine Plate. Once I was rested and refueled I walked to the Ashmolean Museum. This museum has artifacts from all over the world. I’d downloaded the Highlights audio tour on the smartify app before I left the hotel. The museum has some amazing and fascinating pieces.

I spent a couple of hours at the museum, then went and picked up my cases and headed to the train station. I caught the train to Coventry, G’s base while he was visiting clients, our Wales holiday was beginning the next day.

  1. This looks like a great adventure. Is that a houseboat? I love going for a run to explore a place. Beautiful photos. When Coach teaches classes, I sometimes accompany him and chill out while he’s teaching and then we go to a dinner, or he might take the Monday off so we can explore a place. We did that in Greenville, SC probably 7 years ago. It was lovely. Dang, I wish he was asked to teach in England or something. Ha.

    1. There were lots of barges along the waterways in the UK. They seemed to be quite a popular holiday option.

  2. What a lovely run – such a unique country. I really need to put Great Britain on our travel list.

    1. IT would be so easy for you to visit. But you have many cool places within easy reach.
