101 Things in 1001 Days: 700-day Checkin

I started my 101 Things list on September 11th 2023. I’m checking my progress every 100 days. At the end of the first 600 days, I calculated that I was 38.55% complete. For a lot of this 100 days we weren’t at home which meant I couldn’t progress on a number of the ones that are home/local to home goals. Here’s how I went …

  • Reading and Writing
    • 50 lists blog project – I did five more lists (+10%)
    • Read 120 books – 10 books (+6.7%)
  • Running and Fitness

    • Parkruns (x10) – Complete, I did Milford Waterfront (this was my 50th lifetime parkrun) and Noosa. (+20%)
    • City to Surf – Completed yesterday. Recap to follow.
  • Neighbourhood
    • Finishing walking or running every street in Brighton, Elwood and Gardenvale. Finished Elwood and Gardenvale and did a few more streets in Brighton (+3.5%)
    • Write 10 blog posts about something I learned/saw while walking every street – Neighbourhood A-Z (+10%)
  • Travel
    • Five-year travel wish list (for post-2024) – done. G and I have our major travel planned out until 2030.
  • Memories and Photography
    • Finish the kids’ books and hand over all their stuff – I finished off S’s primary years photobook and it is ready for printing (+5%)
    • ABC photo project – Complete. Neighbourhood A-Z (+20%)
    • Go on an outing to photograph birds/wildlife (x2) – Skomer Island (+50%)

    • Everyday Objects Series – Post Boxes (33%)
  • Food

    • Bottling or preserving (x10) – Green tomato relish (+10%)
  • Family and Friends
    • Small gatherings (x10) – P and the girls for dinner which makes this complete (+10%)
    • Celebration dinner for each family birthday (including a special celebration for E’s 21st) – H 2025 The European (+7%)

I calculate that for this 100 days I completed another 3.85% which makes me 42.4% complete. I’m looking forward to getting stuck into the home based items in the next 100 days.

  1. I am so amazed how you power through and ave almost 50% achieved. It feels like I am much more behind on mine. What benchmark. So happy you are making your goals happen.

I would be very interested on hearing how you plan your travel five years in advance. It’s a totally new concept for me. I rarely manage to plan a year.

Enjoy working on your home goals these next 100 years.

    1. The travel planning is just to give us a rough idea of what trips we have planned and so that we prioritise the ones that are more active and get them done while we are still physically fit. Some of the trips are also for G to finish his Abott’s World Marathons so we need to slot them in first.

  2. Honestly Melissa, this is really so incredible! You’ve done a lot of things! Colour me impressed.

    1. Thanks Nicole. I find this list helpful to keep all the good things I want in my life front and center.
