The weather today has been awful, so I had to make a mad dash through the rain into and out of the library to drop off my read books and pick up my reserves.
- The Naked Now – Richard Rohr. I’ve finished this, but I borrowed it from the theological library in the city and I only go there every couple of months.
- Ekphrasis, Vision and Persuasion in the Book of Revelation – Robyn J. Whitaker.
- One Magic Square: Grow Your Own Food on One Square Metre – Lolo Houbein. Just getting a few ideas for our summer plantings.
- Dream Count – Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche. I’m almost finished this and loving it.
- Exclusion and Embrace: A Theological Exploration of Identity, Otherness, and Reconciliation – Miroslav Wolf. I got partway through this before we went overseas, so I had to re-borrow it once we returned.
- Yalukit Willam: The River People of Port Phillip – Meyer Eidelson.
- Sunrise on Reaping – Suzanna Collins
- Eyewitness Germany. I’m doing some initial research for our trip to Germany next year so we know where to fly in and out of.
- Lonely Planet Germany.
- Underland – Robert MacFarlane. This is my current general non-fiction read. So far so good.

That is a lot of library loans. I currently have one. And I think I only had a total of three this year if at all. At least physical. Digital and audio I can’t remember. But my library is 7km away and I am lazy to go there schlepping books. So it’s one or two.
Love seeing all the Germany once in there. I think you would enjoy the Spreewald which is outside of Berlin and can be done as a day trip. There are hikes but you could also do a kayak tour. Or be lazy and do the tourist thing and have you gondeliered around.
I looked at Spreewald as a possibility when we went last time with E, but couldn’t fit it in. We won’t be in Berlin for long this time, just Thursday afternoon to Monday morning around the marathon.
That is a very diverse set of books! We have a lot of books checked out since the kids fill up a book bag during our nearly-weekly library visits. I usually only read digitally on my kindle but I have started to have a physical book checked out at all times so I can read when the boys are watching something I have no interest in. Right now I’m reading ‘Minor Feelings’ which is a book of essays about being an Asian American.
I mostly read physical books. I don’t have a kindle and I enjoy having a physical book.
Once you have your Germany itinerary sorted, I’d love to see it!
I think it’s looking like we’ll be in the Rhine Valley area first, then go to Berlin for the marathon, then to Bavaria and possibly the Black Forest, depending on time.
Dream Count! I loved that book. Five star read for me for sure.
I have nine library books out right now, although I just finished three of them. But now there are three ready for pickup at the library and one more in transit! Aieee.
It’s so hard when reserves all come in at once. Luckily we have ten days to pick them up so if I have to I delay p[icking them up to give myself a bit more time.
This is a lot! Do you usually take out this many books at a time? I get anxious if I have more than three or four. Right now I’m confusing myself by having NO library books out, or even on my holds list. Over the last couple months I’ve bought a bunch of books, and I’m going to work my way through those- I probably won’t check out anything new until January.
I have three books from the theological library, which I typically borrow for 2-3 months. The two Germany books are just to dip in and out of, obviously. I do like to have at least 1 non-fiction and 1 fiction lined up and ready to go. Other than that, it depends on how many of my reserves come in at the same time.
Wow, this is quite the pile of books. You’ve got quite a variety – not at all surprised. Reading about Germany in advance of a trip to Germany, so smart. I’m waiting for The Correspondent, and I think I’ll be waiting for awhile.
I have The Correspondent on reserve too and I’m 23rd on the list.
That is an impressive stack of books! I love the variety of subjects and genres you’re reading.
I definitely have eclectic tastes, and am curious about a lot of things
You are very ambitious. I am such a slow physical book reader, I never take more than one physical book out at a time.
I loved Dream Count.
I usually have a few books on the go at once. At least one fiction, one general non-fiction and one faith/theology and I find it’s good to have one lined up ready to go.
