I started my 101 Things list on September 11th 2023. I’m checking my progress every 100 days. At the end of the first 800 days, I calculated that I was 47.2% complete.
- Reading and Writing
- 50 lists blog project – +8 completes this item(+16%)
- Read 120 books – +19 (+15.8%)
- Running and Fitness
Recover strength for 30 days in a row.Mobo board exercises for 30 days in a row – Complete. I did this over the summer and while it wasn’t technically 30 days in a row, I just had a break when we went to Lorne for the weekend. This stretch really kick-started an improvement in foot strength and balance, though, so it achieved what I wanted.
- Neighbourhood
- Finishing walking or running every street in Brighton, Elwood and Gardenvale – +11/383 (+2.9%). I only have 6 more streets to go.
- Write 10 blog posts about something I learned/saw while walking every street – Some More Local Outdoor Art (+10%)
- Learn about our local First Nations peoples, neighbourhood history and environment Read/visit/watch 5 resources in each of these areas – Read The River People of Port Phillip (First Nations and History) +(13.3%)
- Community
- Pick up rubbish (x5) – I picked up a big piece of pretty clean bubble wrap that was floating around on the nature strip and gave it to Ethan to use for packing. (+20%)

- Experience
- Internet free days (x15) – 25.12.2025 (+6.67%)
- Go to an outdoor movie – Wicked 17.1.2026
- See the Northern or Southern Lights – Yes on Jan 20th at Point Lonsdale
- Make some playlists to listen to
at homeand listen to them (x4) – I updated my Christmas Playlist and played it on Christmas night and I have a playlist of possible worship songs for church that I’ve been listening to. (+50%)
- Food
- Bottling or preserving (x10) – Peaches and Pickled Cucumber Slices (+20%)
- Family and Friends
- Celebration dinner for each family birthday (including a special celebration for E’s 21st) – Mine at Bounty of the Sun (+7.6%)
- Memories and Photography
- Finish a 1s a day monthly video project – I did one in January
So I did a bit better in this 100 days, completing 5.6% of my list which means I’m 52.8% complete. I already know there are some that we can’t do (Israel) and some that I don’t want to do (make weed tea) and many I won’t have time for but I’m going to give it my best shot to tick off some more things in the next 100 days.

900 days in!!! This is amazing, Melissa. I love your list – and look at all you did!
Thanks Nicole. I like a list like this because I do more than I would have done without it.
I love this, and specifically your neighborhood category. Congrats on all the things you did!
Thanks sam
Wow, you are heading into the final stretch! Are the 47% of things you have left difficult ones? How “easy” will it be to knock some of them off? I love this project and am very tempted to do something similar. I already have a long list of things I have done that I wanted to do, and that I still want to do, so perhaps I could do something retroactive! Is that cheating? Haha.
There are a few that are overlapping, and that I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to knock off, especially since we will be mostly home until my list finishes.
I love how your updates are such a mix of big things and tiny, everyday wins. Northern/Southern Lights, outdoor movies, bottling peaches… and then “picked up a random piece of bubble wrap.”
It’s a very real list, not just some random glossy bucket list.
Great idea with the strength/foot work! As a runner, I know how boring that stuff is, but it makes such a difference!
Since my stress fracture I really need to keep on top of my foot health, plus I already have bunions and don’t need my feet to get any worse.
The neighborhood walks goal is such a cool one – and you are so close to completion on that one! Well done!
I finished it this week!
