This isn’t my first blog. I’ve vacillated for a while now, trying to decide whether to continue with that blog or start something new and finally settled on something new. I decided to make the old blog entirely private to protect my now-adult children’s privacy.
The pandemic has coincided with significant changes in my life that effectively draw a line between before and after. In 2021 I finally graduated with my M. Div., my youngest finished high school and my husband and I turned 50. Due to the pandemic, the small church campus that we were involved in close to home shut down and all ministry went back to the main church. My husband gave up the office space 2km from our house and began working from home. These changes to our life meant that we didn’t have strong ties to the area we were living in, and so the downsizing move we had planned for maybe 10 years in the future became a live prospect for now. We sold our house with settlement after our son had finished his year 12 exams and bought an apartment being built in Bayside. With all the changes in our lives, it felt like the right time for a new blog.
If you’re wondering what to expect here – musings on my new neighbourhood, the things I’ve seen, heard and read recently. Basically, the things that I’ve been thinking about.
