2023 Intentions – End of Year Review

At the start of the year, I set a series of intentions in different areas of my life. It’s time to look back and see how I did. Daily Routines: I planned to try out a new habit each month and see what stuck in an attempt to level up my daily routines. This did not go well and I ditched this goal in the middle of the year. Around September I fell into a lovely, morning routine that happened most weekday mornings without meaning to. Overall though, this was a fail. I think ultimately this was a goal that deep down I just wasn’t that committed to. I know a…

Reading, Watching, Listening – December 2023

It’s been a while since I did one of these posts, but maybe you have a bit of time to surf the net in this week? Reading First up some posts to help you reflect on the year that was, or the year to come. End of Year Reflection Questions by Tsh Oxenreider on the commonplace. Austin Kleon has a selection of his own and others’ Prompts for the New Year. This year I managed for the second time to grow seeds in punnets, but it’s never very successful. Maybe I should follow Casey’s lead—“I’m breaking up with punnets”. This season I got tomatoes, capsicums and eggplants started indoors, although…

    Good Things Friday

Recapping all the good things from this week … WE FINISHED THE PUZZLE The girls popped over on Saturday and we finished off the 3000-piece puzzle. I had to get our mini-step ladder out to get this photo. SUNDAY MORNING RUN I did my long run on Saturday morning so I could go to church on Sunday morning (we usually go in the evening). I knew I could get up at my normal time and still squeeze in the 6 km before 9 am church. The conditions were stunning, I had to stop for a photo along the Elstern Canal just near us. FOUR-DAY WORK WEEK Hubby just changed to…

    Good Things Friday

Inspired by Elisabeth. … and by Paul—”Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honourable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is pleasing, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things,”— to engage in more regular appreciation of all the good things. A long overdue catch-up with my good friend The Melbourne Marathon was held on Sunday. I didn’t run, but I got to hang out for a few hours with a good friend who moved to Tasmania last year. It was so good catching up. Afterwards, she sent me the most beautiful text of appreciation for…

    Grrr, Australia Post …

Part of our garden plans involved moving the Lillypillys along our east boundary to the front fence line and replacing them with various citrus. Before Christmas, I moved all the Lillypillys and planted a lime, lemon and mandarin in their place. Still, I wanted a wider variety of citrus than our local nursery carried, so I ordered a variety of mandarins and tangelos from an online nursery I’ve used. They were backed up with orders, so they didn’t get dispatched until last Friday. All was looking good. I prompting received an email saying that the parcel would be arriving Mon-Wed this week. It was not that convenient because I was…

    Hello!

This isn’t my first blog. I’ve vacillated for a while now, trying to decide whether to continue with that blog or start something new and finally settled on something new. I decided to make the old blog entirely private to protect my now-adult children’s privacy. The pandemic has coincided with significant changes in my life that effectively draw a line between before and after. In 2021 I finally graduated with my M. Div., my youngest finished high school and my husband and I turned 50. Due to the pandemic, the small church campus that we were involved in close to home shut down and all ministry went back to the…
