Tenderheart Cook #5

I’m cooking my way through the Tenderheart cookbook but realised in my post numbering I missed #5, so here we are.

Smushy spiced peas with any roasted vegetables

Hmmm … this is a very unappetising photo, but this was good. Cooked frozen peas are lightly blended with garlic, ground cardamon, ground cumin, a chilli, herbs and some olive oil and served under your choice of roast vegetables. Super easy and super tasty.

The Quick Lowdown:

  • Ingredients: Pretty standard ingredients and not many of them.
  • Prep-work: This was pretty easy. I blended the peas in a jug with our stick blender.
  • Dirty dishes: Cutting board, knife, saucepan, roasting pan, colander, stick blender and jug.
  • Taste: Really tasty.
  • Family-friendly: Yes, everyone in our family liked this.
  • Regular rotation worthy: I’ve already made it again. Destined to become a staple at our place.

  1. This sounds like a fun recipe. There is a very traditional dish in Berlin with mushed peas that I think have only had once (ham hock with sauerkraut and pee puree).
I like the seasoning in this one. I try to test it out if I rememer. Sounds like a fall recipe though.

  2. Ohhh yum! I love peas- in any shape or form. Thanks for sharing!
