101 Things In 1001 Days: 600-day Check-In

I started my 101 Things list on September 11th 2023. I’m checking my progress every 100 days. At the end of the first 500 days, I calculated that I was 30.8% complete. My 600 day check in was May 3rd but I was in the UK. I have done a few more things since then but this is the count as at 3/5/25. Here’s how I went …

  • Reading and Writing
    • 50 lists blog project – I did 6 lists (+12%)
    • Read 120 books – 9 books (+7.5%)
    • Read five Miles Franklin Award Winners – I read Dirt Music (still to review), which makes this complete (+20%)
Hampstead Heath Parkrun
  • Running and Fitness
    • Parkruns (x10) – 29.04.25 Karkarook, 26.04.2025 Hampstead Heath, 03.05.25 Penrhyn (+30%)
The bedroom cabinet and artwork
  • Home
    • Get a storage unit for our bedroom – Complete
  • Neighbourhood
    • Finishing walking or running every street in Brighton, Elwood and Gardenvale – completed three streets in Elwood (+1%)
    • Go to five neighbourhood talks, festivals or activities – Zoe Daniels Panel Discussion (+20%)
The Outsiders
  • Travel
    • Travel for two of Hubby’s marathons London 2025 (+50%) makes this complete.
  • Faith
    • Read the bible in a year – (+12%) I finished this in Feb.
  • Community
    • Pick up rubbish (x5) – when I put this on my list, I envisaged a planned trip, so I was equipped to do the job, but one day after mainly music, I was walking home and there was a big plastic bag on the nature strip, so I picked it up. I picked up five more pieces of plastic and a plastic water bottle. When I got home, I threw them in our bin and thoroughly washed my hands since I was not prepared with gloves or tongs. This was out of the ordinary. The footpath to church is not normally festooned with rubbish, but it was windy, and a lot of it seemed to have come from the workers on a building site. (+20%)
  • Food
    • Finish cooking all the recipes in Tenderheart Cookbook – I cooked another 8 recipes (+5%)
  • Family and Friends
    • Big gatherings (x4) – Post-Carmen’s Brunch, E and K’s Engagement Party. Which makes this complete. (+50%)

I calculate my progress was 3.48% for this 100 day period which means I’m 38.55% finished in total.

  1. This is a great list. Looks like you’re doing well, making progress. I make a daily or weekly list of things to accomplish. Hmm, I wonder what I’d be tackling if I cast a wider net – or look further down the road.

    1. I used to do yearly goals, but this longer time frame gives me a chance to tackle things that might take longer.

  2. Dang, You’re certainly getting it done and cramming it in. And love that amazing painting, The Outsiders.

    1. That was an exhibition by street artists which was pretty cool. There is a large scale painting by this artist on one of the buildings near the exhibition which is pretty spectacular.

      1. Oh, now that’s pretty cool. We have quite a few fun murals here, in Quebec City, but mostly historic in nature. Not quite like this one.

  3. Wow, I don’t think I can commit to anything for 1001 days! That’s impressive! (I mean, I can, but I can’t think of 101 things!)

    1. It was surprisingly easy to come up with 101 things, doing them all is proving to be harder. I think some of the things with muiltiples I should have spread out.

      1. Ha! I have tried repeatedly to come up with 101 things and I find it very difficult! I love how you’re updating us on you progress, though. It’s been fun to see you doing all the things.

  4. You know I am a big fan of your updates and that you are doing this.
And you are so much better in checking things off than I am. At least that is what it feels like. Your percentage is about the dame as mine but you have days ahead of you.

My second round of this list ended May 24th. I am going myself a bonus week in order to cross two more things of my list. I really don’t want to carry them over to list #3. Fingers crossed I manage to do it.

But I agree: spreading out some of the multiple goals is a better way to stay ing motivated. I will also add a few things I have already planned and that are easy on my next list in order to have a better achievement quota. Is that cheating? Maybe. Does it motivate? Definitely.

  5. I love that cabinet in your bedroom! You are making great progress on this list!
