Good Things Friday

Just a quick list this week:

  • Saturday morning, I had breakfast with our running group. I walked while everyone else ran because I only walk/run every second day.
  • I had a beach day.
  • The girls also spent a large portion of Saturday at our place working on the puzzle.
  • I’m now up to 4 min run with 1 min walk for thirty minutes on my rehab program—getting there!
  • Last Sunday we got together with my family again for lunch. We arrived about midday and left at 6 pm, so another long lunch. Yes, we still had things to talk about, even after our long lunch the previous Saturday. The occasion was the completion of my sister and brother-in-law’s house renovation. Everyone bought some food with them; as usual, there was more than enough to eat. Dinner was not required on Sunday night. Lots of fun all around and the house renovation is fabulous. My sister made most of the choices and she did a great job.
  • On one of my runs, I listened to this interesting podcast looking at alternatives to our current economic system where instead of production serving financial capital, it serves our social needs without overshooting the planetary boundaries: Doughnut Economics (this is a Christian podcast, but there was almost no specifically Christian content in this, just a look at what a more sustainable, just economics might look like)
  • Outlander season 7 is now on Netflix here (I’m not sure how long it’s been available), so I watched a few episodes while G was in Adelaide this week.
  • Our church has started a monthly prayer night on the third Wednesday. I went this week, and it was a good thing. There was only a short corporate prayer at the start, and then we joined together at the very end for a couple of minutes of sharing if we wanted. The rest of the hour is spent in prayer alone at various stations, or you can choose to pray with another person. It was a quiet oasis in my week.
  • Some of the church property is taken up with a community garden. I went out there on Monday, it is so beautiful at the moment. The butterflies were in force, and there were even some ripe strawberries.
  • Riley got a swim at the beach.
  • E and his girlfriend popped over the other night between their trip to see her family in Warrnambool and E’s work trip to the Gold Coast. They left us a yummy dessert, which we’ve been eating for a few days now.

What are some good things in your week so far? I don’t always listen to something when I walk or run, but when I do, it is usually a podcast. Do you listen to something when you walk or run?

  1. Beach days in November sound like a lovely dream!
    I am always listening to something when I’m out and about – and this week the podcast You Are Good talked about my favourite movie in the world, When Harry Met Sally, so that was super fun.

    1. We’re having more beach weather this weekend. Melbourne’s weather can be very variable, so getting hot weather now doesn’t mean it will continue.

  2. We caught the mouse that has been terrorizing our house and that’s the best news. Our cat seems to be feeling better after a medical treatment, the dog is enjoying the cooler weather, and next week is a short week. All good things!

    I feel like we should have photos of Riley at the beach to cheer all of us up.

    1. Yay for catching the mouse. I wouldn’t enjoy knowing a mouse was running around my house … plus the poop. I glad your cat is feeling better, it’s had a hard time lately.

  3. I have read the Outlander books 1-3 (I think) and was going to wait until I read them all to start watching the show, but there are a lot of books! Did you read the books yet? I just started watching the Great British Baking Show, and it is cute, and I can just have it on in the background while I am doing other things, as it doesn’t require much concentration.

    I usually listen to audiobooks when I ride/run/walk, but sometimes when I am not really getting into the book, I will swap to podcasts. I normally listen to financial, adventure/active or stories (Choose Fi, Adventure Sports Podcast, The Moth) related ones.

    1. I read all the books before the TV series came out. I started reading them at the time when I had to wait for the next book in the series to come out. The books get longer as yuo get further in so there’s a fair bit of reading to go for you. There seems to be a lot of Great Baking Show fans around.

  4. Looks like your are getting back into running and works out well. I bet you are excited that it’s moving forward.

    Reading about beach days when it is snowing outside is something so hard to fathom for. The total opposite of season.
    Enjoy your spring/Summer though.

  5. I’m glad your return to running is going well. I did something similar after my last pregnancy. It was a great way to get back into continuous running!!

    I had a really nice work trip to NYC so that was the high of my week. The weather was so nice and I got to see a lot of coworkers and did a good amount of client meetings. And then I got home around dinner on Thursday and got big hugs from both boys. Another high was putting our Christmas tree up last night!!
