Reviewing my progress on my April intentions and setting my intentions for May.
Daily Routines: I was on and off with these but generally successful with weekday Lectio 365 and 5 min prayer. I kept up my higher protein breakfasts and lunches, successfully converting them to dairy-free options. This month my practice will be foam rolling.
Three times a week is a habit (gardening, photography and blogging): mostly successful.
Read 52 books this year: I finished five books in April. The tracker in Goodreads says I’m three books ahead of schedule.
Travel: We had a relaxing break at my parents’ over Easter, catching up with my family. Towards the end of May, we will be leaving for Queensland, so I need to finalise the itinerary for the road trip portion. I need to work out fitting in time for Hubby’s marathon training and the driving and then find what sightseeing we can fit in. We also need to book the rest of our accommodation for our trip in November.
Home: I got the photos framed, and a guy is coming to hang them next week. We will also try to finalise the cabinetry for the study before we go away. I finished planting out the veggie beds. This month I will need to get the garden tidied up and ready to look after itself while we are away. I also want to sort out the laundry cupboards and the shelves in the study. When I was unpacking boxes I just put things in the first place I could find, now I need to sort through them all.
Photography: I’ve been working steadily on my son’s primary school photobook. I’ve completed Prep and need to finish the journalling for Grade 1. I’ve also scanned or photographed the memorabilia for all years. I’ll keep working on it this month. I also want to scan or photograph the girl’s memorabilia so I can work on their albums while I’m away.
Round the Neighbourhood: My goal to run or walk all the neighbourhoods is still going strong. Below are the suburbs I’ve progressed this month:
- Brighton: 139 of 276 streets ⬆️ 17, 50.00% ⬆️ 6.12%
- Elwood: 56 of 94 ⬆️ 7, 48.94% ⬆️ 10.63%
- St. Kilda: 10 of 152 ⬆️ 3, 6.58% ⬆️ 1.94%
Sustainability: Still chugging along with prioritising buying things without disposable packaging. I must remember to pack my coffee cup when we go away.
Run: At the start of April I was still getting over the series of viruses, migraines etc, but I’ve now managed to string together three full weeks of training. I ran 166.5km in April, so I’ve fallen well behind where I need to be to get to 2500km for the year, but I’m not giving up just yet.
Entertain: Our small group was over for dinner on Anzac Day, but I’ve been a bit slack. This goal will go on the back burner until we return from Queensland.
We still haven’t looked at our POA or wills, so I think that will be a job for when we return from Queensland. The end of the financial year is coming up in June so we need to start looking at completing our giving for the year and doing a super top-up for me.

You’ve been doing great. There’s really something to be said about habits/consistency… even if it ebbs and flows a bit, it will move you forward nonetheless!
Thanks, San. Yes, I agree with you about habits, even just a little bit done regularly is sometimes better than the all in effort that leaves you exhausted. although sometimes we need those too!

Great recap. I wish I could get into running but I will come up with the most creative excuses NOT to do exercise. Ha. I do love my daily routine (aka the Golden Hour): meditation, morning pages (see Julia Cameron’s the Artist’s Way book), reading, and planning out the day. This routine makes me somewhat balanced and not reactive (mostly lol).
Hello Daria. Thanks for popping in and commenting. I only got into running about ten years ago and joined the running group about five years ago. It’s much easier for me to exercise regularly since the kids are older. I know many people fit it in with younger kids, but when I had pre-school age kids, they weren’t in childcare, and my husband travelled regularly, so I never really did anything … except walking a lot which is still good.
