    Rubbish Audit #1

Note: I am privileged with time, education and resources that allow me to make choices that are not available to everyone. Each of us has to make decisions based on our circumstances and values. You can read more of my thoughts on this topic here and a related quote. So, this post is me doing me; I encourage you to do you … always thoughtfully, of course! As part of my sustainability goals, I have on my list to “do a rubbish audit and then reduce rubbish by 25%.” Last week, I did the first part, which was to audit our rubbish. The idea is to see how much rubbish…

    101 Things in 1001 days: 200-Day Check-In

I started my 101 Things list on September 11th 2023. I’m checking my progress every 100 days. At the end of the first 100 days, I calculated that I was 11.73% complete. Let’s get into the next 200 days, shall we? For days 100-200, I completed 8.22% of my list, which means I’m 19.96% through the list. I might need to get a wriggle on over the next 100 days.

    101 Things in 1001 Days: 100-Day Check-in

I started my 101 Things list on September 11th this year. It’s my way of making sure I’m not falling into rut and keep welcoming all the little (and big) things that make life richer. I’ve decided to do an update on my progress every 100 days. I even marked the dates on my calendar. Here goes: I calculate that as 11.73% complete, so on track. Do you have a 101 list/bucket list? What are the things you like to do or would like more of in your life?

Looking Forward, Looking Back – September 2023

We went into the city last week to celebrate my daughter’s birthday at Chin Chin. There were six of us so we had to eat off the Feed Me menu and we chose the option where the server picks for you guided by any likes/dislikes. The food was excellent. We also walked through Hosier Lane on the way there and back and checked out the current artwork. Now, onto my progress on my 2023 intentions. Three times a week is a habit: almost, apart from the weeks I had vertigo. The blogging probably fared better than photography and gardening. I need to get the summer veggie garden in this month. Read:…

    101 Things in 1001 Days

The other day I was reading blogs and came upon Tobia’s post about her 101 Things in 1001 Days progress. I’ve done one of these before and it reminded me of all the reasons why this format is so helpful. It involves long-term goal setting, but not too long-term. Being longer than a year, you get multiple chances to hit seasonal goals. There is plenty of room for a good mixture of goals. It’s just right for people like me who love somewhere to aim but are OK with a less-than-perfect hit rate. I pretty much immediately decided that I was going to do this myself. I had a bit…

Looking Forward, Looking Back – August 2023

Three times a week is a habit: For the second month in a row, it was a no, no and no. I’m still wanting to do these, so I’m recommitting this month. Read: Another small reading month with two books finished, but I was very close to finishing another two and they are finished now. Travel: I have a pretty detailed plan for our trip in October/November and I’ve started making some bookings. This month there are a few tickets that come available 30 days prior to booking so I’ll do those and finish booking the train tickets. I have two more blog posts I want to do from our…

Looking Forward, Looking Back – July 2023

Three times a week is a habit: No, no and no. Blogging I’ve posted 1-2 times per week most weeks. I meant to start gardening once we returned home but have only managed to get out into the garden a few times. There is a fair bit of tidying up, and I also want to start planning my summer veggie gardens. I have been taking some photos, but I need to get back into working on our photobooks. Read: 52 books. I only completed two books last month, and GoodReads is telling me that I’m two books behind schedule, but I’m a good way through three books now, so hopefully,…

    Looking Forward, Looking Backward – June 2023 and a half-yearly check-in

I learned something new this week – July 2nd is the middle of the year. I usually do a check-in each month with my intentions but since we are over half-way through the year I thought I’d also look at how I’m going over the course of the year. Daily Routines: my intention in this area was to try out new habits each month to see what I wanted to include going forward. This has not been going well over the last few months, and May’s intention to do foam rolling/mobility was an epic fail. I’m thinking that I’m not really buying into this intention so I’m going to scrap…
