Elisabeth has challenged us to do 10 minutes of intentional movement every day in October. Here’s the details from my first week.
Wednesday October 1st: 15 minutes pre-gym run. Walk to personal training. Strength training 45 mins. G met me and we walked Riley to the park, then to an unplanned stop at the nursery where I picked up some plants. Walked home. Daily steps: 12,821

Thursday October 2nd: The weather was awful today. I walked to the shop in the afternoon to pick up food for dinner (35 mins). Daily steps: 6,289
Friday October 3rd: 10K run before we left for the Grampians. Mount Abrupt hike in the afternoon. Daily steps: 27,884

Saturday October 4th: We walked to the hotel’s kitchen garden for a tour and then in the afternoon did the Pinnacles hike. Daily steps: 15,143

Sunday October 5th: The wind put a stop to our plans to hike this morning, so we had a short walk around Dunkeld before breakfast. Daily steps: 5,433
Monday October 6th: Walked to church for mainly music, then to Bay St. I popped into a dress shop and bought a dress for my son’s wedding (so good to have that task done, and find something that I love). Went to the gym (strength, then SIT intervals on the treadmill), then walked home. Later my daughter, Riley and I walked to the shop to pick up food for dinner. Daily steps: 17,476
Tuesday October 7th: Run – 3x1K with warm up and cool down. Late in the afternoon I walked to the shops with G and Riley to get food for dinner. Daily steps: 14,479

You’re smashing it, Melissa!
I love how naturally you weave walking into your days – to the shops, church, gym – it’s all just part of your rhythm. The Grampians hikes sound incredible too (27,000+ steps, wow!). And that wedding dress find, bonus win!
When is your son’s wedding?
I don’t like driving much (maybe because of the stress of driving the kids to all their activities), so now I avoid driving if I can. Luckily, we live in a very walkable area. The wedding is Valentine’s Day next year.
Well you know I am so excited to hear about your wedding dress find (more accurately…a dress for the wedding since it’s not YOU getting married this time). Please post pictures!!
Love all the walking you fit in this week. Sounds like some really lovely time spent with your hubby in the great outdoors.
You will have to wait for the dress reveal in February. G and I do do a lot of walking together.
You are adding so many steps here. I guess running does help. Just walking it takes so much time to get to 10000 steps if you never leave the home office. Ha.
I have admired your hikes in the previous post. Love them.
It is harder when I don’t run, but often I am walking the dog, or doing other errands.
Amazing hikes, walks, runs, and I also love how you are able to just fit it in with your daily life. How far is it to the shops where you buy dinner ingredients? Do you ever find yourself overloaded, or no, since you just buy enough for a meal or two?
It’s only about 500m to the small grocer. I buy things for dinner normally, but we also have a larger supermarket about 1.5 km away, which I can also walk to. G does most of the supermarket runs though when he’s driving around. I’m usually just picking up a few things.
