Elisabeth has challenged us to do 10 minutes of intentional movement every day in October. Here’s the details from my second week.
Wednesday October 8th: 20 minute easy run before the strength. Walk to the gym, then do 45 minutes strength training. G met me with Riley and we walked to the park, then along the beach and home. At lunch time I realised we had nothing in the house for lunch so we walked to Sushi Baby and picked up some lunch and also some bits and pieces to make soup from the shop. In the evening we walked to church and back for a meeting. Total steps: 18,012.

Thursday October 9th: Thursdays are a rest day for me, but I walked to the shops with G and Riley to pick up food for dinner. Total Steps: 6,207
Friday October 10th: Long run day – 2 hours. I ran along the coastal path from our home. The sky was blue, but it was really windy and not that pleasant, especially coming back home into the wind. I did get to tuck in under the tea trees for about 8K around my turnaround point. In the evening G and I walked to a local restaurant and met friends for dinner. Total Steps: 25,456

Saturday October 11th: In the morning G and I drove to Middle Park and I did a 45 minute recovery run, along the beach toward Port Melbourne and back, then met the girls and a friend for some breakfast at Ned’s. Total Steps: 15,326

Sunday October 12th: We went in to support our friends running in various events at the Melbourne Marathon. Lots of walking round, from the car, picking up coffee and then breakfast, spectating at a few points on the course. Walked to church and back for Alpha in the late afternoon. Total Steps: 11,599.

Monday October 13th: Today marks the start of my recovery week, so I have less heavy strength work and running intensity/distance. I have a recovery week every three weeks. Walked to and from mainly music at church. Total Steps: 7,202
Tuesday October 14th: Easy run – 1:15. I used the opportunity to complete a few more streets towards my goal of running or walking every street in Brighton. I completed 11 streets. Walked Riley to the dog park with G in the afternoon and picked up a few things for dinner. Total Steps: 20,127.

Love the step counts! And drooling over your beach/cliff views. So gorgeous.
Running along the beach track is wonderful, but it has been so windy here the last month or so, it is reducing my enjoyment.
Such beautiful views, and fun to support your friends running the marathon.
I love spectating at a big run.
The birds are so cool. Never heard of those. Also, that view – the one that you say doesn’t look like it’s near a big city. Wow. Amazing.
The birds were a real find. I haven’t seen them again.
Well done on all those steps! The views from your long run are STUNNING! That picture reminds me of my drive along the great ocean road which is one of my favorite things I did when I was in Australia. I really want to go back with my family when they are ready for an epic trip like that.
I have only missed one day of walking this month. Walks have been so good for my mental health. I’ve done a few short runs, too, as my therapist thinks it would be good for the PTSD/brain issues I’m having. I have a 10k on Thanksgiving so need to get back to running more than 3 miles at a time…
The tea tree scrub is very Australian coastal. I love the Great Ocean Road. I’d like to do a bit of the walk they’ve opened up from Apollo Bay to the Twelve Apostles.
I’m glad you’ve been able to get out and walk, and run a bit too. Both are so good for mental health.
Well, I am declaring you queen of steps. I dont think anyone will get close to your daily steps. It’s amazing how much you fit in.
And I agree the views are amazing.
Thanks tobia, I don’t like driving, so I usually walk a lot.
