E and I arrived home late last night. G is in the UK visiting clients. One advantage of flying in late is that we could just go straight to bed, and being tired, get a decent night’s sleep. That gives a good kickstart to getting over jetlag. It’s 8:50 am here and 10:50 pm in Berlin. I’ve had my quiet time, eaten a bowl of porridge and now it’s time to start thinking about ALL. THE. THINGS. So, a little list of the things that probably need my attention:
- WORK! Which includes clearing my email, paying our company tax and starting to think through a new procedure for one of our client’s shipments
- Get some food in the house. I had just enough rolled oats and frozen strawberries to make my normal porridge. The first order now is to pick up some bits and pieces to tide us over until I can set the menu and do a bigger shop.
- Give my indoor plants some loving.
- Clear the drain in the paving. There is currently a big puddle outside our bedroom.
- Give the garden some loving. A quick look out the window tells me that there has been a lot of growth while I’ve been away, but I can’t see whether the tomatoes took off.
- Book somewhere to celebrate my birthday (coming up) and E’s birthday (while we were away) with the girls. This one will be a joint celebration.
- Touch base with my co-leader for mainly music, and help get everything ready for our trial run on the 11th of December.
- Ring my dad.
- Get E to bring the Christmas tree up from the storage cage in the basement. Decorate (on the 1st December)
- Finish my safe church training and check my WWCC is up to date.
- Jump back into my routines.
- Get back into running. The plan for this week is four shorter runs (about 20-30km for the week)
- Update the budget
- Doctor
- Unpack
- Hope that I don’t pick up E’s cold or one of the other colds from the plane. The guy next to me and behind me were also coughing and blowing their noses.
- Post about our last two days of travel. The time changes have really messed with trying to keep up posting every day but I have one post that was scheduled for while we were travelling that didn’t publish and one more to write.
Today’s immediate priorities are to walk around to Gumtree and pick up some bread and other essentials, go for run, unpack and put on the washing, make a doctor’s appointment and set up the tax payment.

Travel is so wonderful, and your trip looks amazing. It is always nice to be home, though. For me, getting back into the daily routine somehow makes the vacation seem like it was a dream.
Wow- how long were you gone? Was it the whole month? I can imagine it would be hard to get back to normal life again. I hope you don’t get sick- sounds like your flight was very germ-y!
Ugh, the long list of to-dos after a long trip! I hope you settle back into your rhythm quickly. Welcome back!
What a wodnerful trip you had! Glad you are home, safe nd sound. Doesn’t it feel nice to be on your own turf once again? I love travelling but I also love coming back home <3
