List #11: Decisions I need to Make

My broad beans. They escaped from their enclosing string while I was overseas. When we came back I did my best to confine them but they are pretty wild.

A list of decisions I need to make at the moment:

  • When should I harvest the rest of my broad beans and replace them with tomatoes? Traditionally, Melbourne Cup Weekend is tomato planting time in Melbourne, but that came and went (Cup Day was Tuesday), and my broad beans still need to be harvested. I think I’m going to have to call time on them soon, but I need to make that decision.
  • Whether to do some editing on an essay in time to submit it for consideration for publishing around Anzac Day next year.
  • What woman of faith to present on at our Monday women’s group at church. I’m presenting on the 19th of November.
  • A rough itinerary for our road trip around Wales so we can book our accommodation.
  • Where to store the leftover cans of soft drink from our son’s 21st birthday party.
  • What to eat at our early family Christmas celebration on December 14th.
  • What restaurant to book for my birthday celebration with the kids.

    Egads. Your list made me think of about 1000 things I need to do. Order a new planner… think about THanksgiving… buy my son’s plane tickets for Christmas… I could go on and on. I feel like this week sped by and I forgot to deal with normal life. Guess I have to get back to that.

      Sorry? With the public holiday on Tuesday last week, I found it hard to get organised and motivated so I’ve had a lot of things piling up too.

    I feel like some of these are more time sensitive than others. The beans/tomatoes, the church presentation, the essay. The birthday, Christmas, and soft drinks, that feels less time sensitive, though also maybe easier. The trip to Wales, I feel like that one is something to daydream about, once you have your flight and hotel planned.

    Me…what decisions do I need to make? Well, we’re hosting a very small Thanksgiving, so while the menu is pretty obvious, my mind is going to spend a lot of time thinking about it. Then there’s Christmas stuff.

      We’ve got our flgiht to the UK booked and a hotel in London but I need to rough out the roadtrip itinerary so we know where to book.

    Why will you/would you celebrate Christmas 10 days early?

      Every second year my sister goes to New Zealand to spend Christmas with her husbands family so we often have our family get together before they head off. My son will also be away this Christmas visiting his girlfriend’s extended family in South Africa.

    I’m deciding about what goal planning journal to buy next year. I’ve spent far too long looking at templates online. What a ridiculous use of my time, but there you go.

    Oh, I love making lists. I usually write what needs doing in my journal though I’ve found an app for my phone that carries over incomplete tasks over to the next day. Really simple and fun.

    And wish I could schedule our family Christmas dinner earlier rather than on the day. Less chaos I imagine.

      When we have lunch on Christmas Day we usually have to drive back to Melbourne (2 hours) for dinner with my husband’s family. We are looking forward to not having to go to dinner this year after spending lunch with G’s family.

    That is a great idea to have Christmas dinner early. My brother’s GF and her family can never figure out what they are doing until the last minute, even though the holiday is on the SAME DAY every year, and this messes with my family’s plan every year! I think the smart thing would be for our family to just schedule it a couple of weeks early and then her family can hem and haw and not disrupt our planning!

    A big, major rock in my shoe right now is our summer trip to France. I want to book airfare and gites soon. The airfare is still holding very high: 1,500 per person (!). So I will wait t a bit longer… But yes I would like to have the dates all set, build that fence so to say, then I can relax and get excited :))

      You are so lucky to be able to get to Europe so cheaply and fast, I’m a little envious. It’s always good to get the air fares booked.
