Spotted Photo: Round

I’m joining in Hannah’s photo challenge to find photos in my stash that match the monthly theme. March’s theme was Circles, so I’m just squeezing it in before the end of the month.

The first photo is of G, E and S panning for gold at Sovereign Hill in January 2007. Sovereign Hill is an open air museum in Ballarat and depicts life in Ballarat in the first ten years after gold was discovered in 1851. I used to have a little glass vial of gold dust I panned for at Sovereign Hill as a kid.

These are white chocolate truffles the kids and I made for their teachers Christmas presents in 2008.

The moon, obviously, taken in 2009.

There were so many interesting rock formations in Monument Valley, including this round hole. Taken in 2009 on our road trip in the US.

The kids in front of the Olympic rings at Whistler. January 2012.

We hosted a Korean exchange student in 2013 and we all made some sushi rolls together.

We went to the light festival in the city in 2018 and this was one of the installations.

What’s your favourite photo here?

  1. I like them all, but I think my favorite is gold panning. I lived for 5 years in Alaska as a kid, and gold panning was definitely a tourist thing to do there (and of course some people did it for real and got rich, and others did it for real and got nothing), so it brings back memories for me. I also really like Monument Valley, and the truffles.

    1. It’s a fun thing to do, but not for too long. I don’t have the patience.

  2. This is such a fun blogging challenge. I love all of these pictures, but I’m partial to the last one. The glowing orbs are gorgeous.

    1. Yes, that was a really cool installation.

  3. I like the kids panning for gold. Classic family memories!!

    1. I know; we took them back when they were older when we had the exchange student with us.

  4. I like all of these, thank you for playing along again! If I had to pick a favourite I’d choose between the formation of the Mountain Valley and the Olympic rings, because I wish I could see them IRL and they evoke a longing in me, to travel, to explore, to see the world.

    Happy spring!

    1. I love looking back on my travel photos. Such good times!

  5. Very cool! I love them all, and now I wish I had a truffle.

    1. Haha! Me too!
