Spotted photos: Yellow

I’m currently in London, killing some time in the hotel before I head off to cheer G on as he runs the London Marathon. I have an action plan to hopefully see him at multiple spots which requires me leaving the hotel at 9:30 am, so I have a little bit of time to post this for Hannah’s photo challenge.

This month’s theme is yellow. My daughters were in Gilbert house, whose colour is yellow, when they were at school so I have heaps of photos with yellow that are no good for sharing, but there were still lots of other photos with yellow in them. These are the ones I narrowed down to.

Our son loved Bob the Builder when he was a toddler. This is him working in the garden. (2006)
S loved Belle. My SIL gave her a Belle costume, here she is wearing it at her 5th birthday (2006)
The Point Lonsdale SLSC colours are yellow and black. H is in this lineup of girls waiting to do their run swim run. (2007)
A Pickachu cake I made for H’s 10th birthday (2009)
Sunflowers in our garden (2013)
Practice runs in the Palio, Siena. (2016)
Dragon on the river in HoiAn. G and I went there for our 20th anniversary (2017)
Lifeguard tower at Main Beach in Queensland (2018)
Bright yellow fungi, spotted on the Overland track in Tasmania. G and I went there for our 25th wedding anniversary. (2022)
Kayaking in the Noosa Everglades (2022)
Van Gogh at Lume, Melbourne (2022)
The Big Banana, Coffs Harbour (2023)

We have a lot of novelty big things in Australia. Is this a thing you have where you live?

  1. I love those huge novelty things. They are especially popular in rural parts of Canada – particularly the prairies. There used to be a show called Corner Gas that was set in Saskatchewan, and there was a story line about wanting to put the small town on the map. So one of the older ladies thought that to honour their agricultural roots, they would put up a giant hoe. World’s Biggest Hoe! Of course the joke became World’s Biggest Ho, and it ended up that someone beat them to it and theirs was only the second biggest.
I love sunflowers too, and Belle was always my favourite.

  2. I am learning from this prompt around the Interwebz that I cannot distinguish between yellow and orange. If someone also threw in gold, I would lose my mind. All of that said, I adored these photos – Bob the Builder! Belle! Sunflowers! What else could a person ask for?

  3. I am thinking about you as I place the last piece of my 1000 piece puzzle into place. It took us over a week.
I love all the pictures of yellow but especially the kids. The handsomest Bob the builder and beautiful Belle!
Yellow associates in my mind with spring and summer. I don’t really own a lot of yellow clothing, but do enjoy the color as a whole.

  4. These are great pictures. Bob the Builder version cracked me up. I remember those days. Such a great variety and so many of them show your love of travel. Love the horse riding one, and the contrast of the colors in the kayak photo.
