WITL: Saturday, 6th May

7:00 Wake up. Pre-long run breakfast, almond butter and banana on two slices of toast. Get dressed. Current temperature 10.3C. Forecast: 13C with 95% chance of rain.

7:25 Go for my run. It’s a cut-back week, so my long run is 16km. The plan is to run along the beach and meet Hubby and some friends at a cafe in Middle Park. It’s wet, but the rain eases about halfway through the run. I roughly calculate a turnaround point that ends up in Port Melbourne.

At the turnaround. Hoping I can get back before the rain comes … I didn’t.

9:20 Arrive at the cafe. Hubby has a dry top and a jacket, so I go and change my T-shirt. That feels much better. One of our friends has just got back from running the London Marathon, so we get all the stories. She’s also a dietician, and she gives us the low down on gels and calories. I haven’t really got into using gels a lot, mainly because of the fructose, but she uses Winnings which are only glucose, so I’m going to give them a try. I have a large oat latte and a four-egg omelette with mushrooms and goat’s cheese for breakfast.

11:15 Get home. Shower. Put on the washing. Make the bed. Tidy the kitchen

Clean washing waiting to be sorted and put away.

12:13 Get the latest photos off my phone and camera and onto the computer. Edit and delete. Upload April photos to our backup. Write some blog posts.

14:24 More food. Toast with silvan berry jam. Read blogs.

15:15 Nap which turns into an extended lie-in.

17:10 Get up. find our daughter in the lounge room. She’s let herself in and had been there for about 30mins. Chat. Order Takeaway.

18:20 Eat dinner, which is burgers.

18:51 Watch the movie, Black Adam.

20:50 Hayley goes home. Read my current non-fiction. Bath and read my fiction book.

22:30 Lights out.

  1. What a full day! In general, I loathe getting wet when I’m outside. I really dislike water on my face and the sensation of sweating, so it’s not just rain.

    1. My biggest problem is rain on my glasses which I generally reduce by wearing a cap. If I have flexibility I’ll try to time my run to avoid the rain but when it’s scheduled to fit in with others I just have to push through.

  2. A day well lived.
