"Instructions for living a life: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it." – Mary Oliver

WITL: Wednesday, 3rd May

6:50 Wake up. Not a great sleep last night. Woke up a couple of times and took ages to get back to sleep. Lectio365. Pray.

7:27 Get up. Get dressed. Current temp 11.6. Forecast 18C with rain.

7:50 Eat my pre-workout breakfast—almond butter and banana on toast. Read the digital paper.

8:09 Go to PT. With my poor sleep and quick turnover between a hard running session and this morning, it feels hard. Legs and arms are both shaky by the end.

9:00 Finish PT and start walking home. Hubby and Riley meet me halfway. Hubby got back a bit late from dropping the car off to get serviced. Go back to our favourite coffee shop. Get the usual. Walk to the park. We ran into Sonny on her owner on the way. The dogs and owners said hello, and then we continued on. Park, then home.

9:28 At the park, Riley runs off excitedly to see all the dogs. He does multiple crazy runs and says hello to everyone.

9:50 Get home. Turn on the steam oven to make my 2nd breakfast. Read bible. Put porridge in the oven. Finish my computer update, then do planning while it’s cooking.

10:16 Today I top my porridge with stewed apples and pears, a touch of maple syrup and pecans and walnuts. Read my morning book and eat breakfast. Then read some newsletters.

10:43 Shower. Make the bed. Put on the washing.

11:16 Work

12:16 Dry hair

12:30 Spontaneous lunch date with Hubby. We walk down to Martin St. and try first cafe we get to – St Martin’s. Spaghetti linguine for me and spaghetti carbonara for him. It was OK. Walk back via Gumtree to pick up some food.

13:40 Hang out the washing.

13:46 Feeling tired now. Work. I complete everything in my inbox as well as my regular tasks for the week for this job.

The weather has turned. More Rain.

14:33 Tidy up the kitchen.

14:46 I pull together some background resources for Ephesians and email them to my small group.

15:50 When we moved in I just unpacked a lot of the boxes and put all the things wherever I could fit them. I put organise the laundry cupboards on my list for this month and today is the day. My main aim is to get most of the stuff off the laundry bench and have the things that I use more regularly on the bottom shelf of the cupboard so I can reach them. While I was doing this the electrician came to get the electrical for the TV sorted.

Finished!

17:21 Clear my email. Write a blog post.

Hubby has been using his Post-it notes to work out the TV positioning. The electrician moved the aerial down to the lower level and cut everything off up here so we can fit the frame TV flush with the wall.

18:06 Make dinner. tonight we’re eating Mejandra. Hubby and our son are both home for dinner. Clean up the kitchen. Go through my proposed itinerary for our Germany trip with our son. He’s happy with it which means we can book some accommodation.

19:40 Watch Reacher on Netflix.

21:16 Do foam rolling. I’m just sneaking it in again. Have a bath and continue reading my book.

10:15 Lights out.

  1. That sounds like a pretty good day, especially considering you didn’t sleep well. I haven’t had a really good night of sleep in a few nights, I am hopeful that tonight isn’t a ‘wake up at 4, can’t go back to sleep’ night.

I used to take my dog to the dog park, but I don’t like the one near us. The people don’t really watch their dogs and I feel like my boy gets bullied, so we’re all better off just doing walks.

    1. I hope you got a good night’s sleep. Poor sleep makes everything else harder and can be so frustrating. I’ve had a few good nights now.

The owners at our local park are responsible, and most stand in close proximity and actively control their dogs. Riley is a bit naughty … he likes to mount black and dark brown dogs, so I have to keep an eye on him and pull him off when he starts, but most of the time, he’s pretty good. He doesn’t hurt or get aggressive with any dogs. WE have a dog beach near us which I’ve heard has more problems with aggressive dogs but we haven’t had any issues when we’ve been there.
