100 Things that Made My Year

Stealing this idea from Austin Kleon

  1. Moving into our new partment.
  2. Being back in a well-designed kitchen.
  3. Making plans for the garden.
  4. Our new easily installed pond. Buy it. Get it delivered. Put a level paver in the garden. Put the pond on top. Fill it with water. Plug the pump in.
  5. Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary with a trip to Tasmania.
  6. Hiking the Overland Track. Six days, total of 85km with 2.5km elevation gain.
  7. Summitting Mount Oakleigh and Mount Ossa on days 4 and 5 of the hike. Overcoming my fear of heights to make it up the boulder field on Mount Ossa. Our cheery guide who made it possible, although I did not enjoy hearing him say “The next bit is a bit more technical. Just follow the person in front and make sure you have three solid points of contact before moving” and “it’s worse coming down.” (Luckily I didn’t find it worse coming down except my quads were shot by the time we made it down and to the hut for the night)
  8. Absolutely spectacular beach scenery in Tasmania at the Bay of Fires and Rocky Cape.
  9. Seeing a Wedge-Tail Eagle at reasonably close range in the wild.
  10. Finding and settling into our new church.
  11. Leading a new small group at our new church.

  16. The amazing colours and shapes of fungi after the rain in Tasmania.
  17. Realising how much I enjoy visiting exhibitions by myself. I went into the city and saw three art exhibitions this year. Picasso at the NGV was the highlight.
  18. Five weeks away in Noosa. We worked remotely but enjoyed the warmer weather and some weekend activities.
  19. Sunsets over the Noosa River.

I love Naan bread, but have only had it homemade once. So good.
And I also love my AirPod Pros!
Congrats on all the running miles! What a great accomplishment.
And I also love dresses with pockets (or without) – to me dresses are 1000x more comfortable than pants because of my curvy shape. Pants never, ever fit me properly (sigh).

And as someone just settling into a new church and LOVING it, I am so happy for you to have found a place and been able to join in!

I really want to go see Avatar in theatres; soon?!

At the start of the year, I had a bit of angst about finding a church in the neighbourhood. It felt hard a the start. We’d been to the same church for 30 years. It was the church I came to faith in when I was 20—but feeling good about where we’ve landed. It’s very different to our previous church, but it feels right. I think it’s probably harder and feels like there’s more at stake when you have kids as well to fit in with them as you do. Isn’t it great, though when you find your place?

I am SO glad you did NaBloPoMo and I discovered your blog. You live in such a beautiful area and I love all the photos you share. I can’t wait to read all about your adventures in the coming year!

The feeling is mutual. My Feedly has expanded quite a bit, and my want-to-read list on Goodreads thanks to all your detailed book reviews.

What a wonderful list. If we sit down and really think about our year, we can usually find a lot of things to be thankful for.

I am so glad NaBloPoMo made the list and that we got to “meet” that way 🙂 Also, good luck with the photo books – I know how much work those are. Fun work, but still… work! 😉
