2026 FIG Collective – Week 4

I’m joining with lots of others in looking for little joys in the month of February. For all the details pop over to Elisabeth’s blog.

Monday 23rd. I have a few for today, so bear with me:

  • I found a 1500 piece puzzle at the Op shop. Plus some little board books and blocks to put in the busy bags we are making for children to use during our church services.
  • I also picked up Nicole’s book Inhale Exhale from the post office. There was a bit of confusion with this package because I organised for G to pick up the packages from the post office last week, and my app said this was picked up, so I thought it was in his boot with the big box of toilet paper. Anyway, towards the end of last week, I got a message to remember to pick up the toilet paper, which was still showing up in my app as waiting for collection. I checked with G, and he assured me he had picked it up and it was in the boot. Saturday, when we remembered to get the packages out of the car, I realised that G had not picked up both packages and they had ticked off the wrong one. Long story short, I went to the post office, and now I have Nicole’s book, which I will get to as soon as I have finished The Correspondent.
  • As I was walking home, I came upon a woman with her tiny puppy. She had just bought it home the previous week, so she still has to be careful because it hasn’t had its full immunisations. Anyway, she picked her up and cradled her as we walked back down the street and around the corner, chatting all the way to our front gate. She is obviously absolutely besotted with her little puppy (for good reason). I loved this random encounter with a stranger. Since we’ve moved in, we have managed to “meet” a number of people from the area in this way. We have a regular conversation with Nick, who lives on one of the nearby streets we regularly walk down, because he is always outside his house, cleaning up his nature strip or the nature strip across the road. I love that people here are generally friendly.
  • K came for dinner, as well as the girls. It was lovely to catch up and find out how she is finding married life, haha!

Tuesday 24th: I got back to the personal trainer after a few weeks off to recover, and wasn’t completely wrecked so that was good. I let him kn ow that I needed to ease into things.

Wednesday 25th: I found another two puzzles at the OpShop. One is a 2000-piece and the other is a 1500-piece that is unopened. I also found three sets of good colouring pencils that we will use in our activity packs at church.

Thursday 26th: I did just over an hour of “Jeffing” (walk/run intervals) and got a number of streets ticked off on my running every street project. We went out for dinner with friends to celebrate an upcoming baby. She is 32 weeks now, so not long to go.

Friday 27th: I got a major undertaking basically off my list, now I’m just waiting to hear back that it is all good and we can sign, then I can tick that off for another three years.

Saturday 28th:

  • Brunch with our running group. Where we go has one of the best brekkie burgers around so that’s my go to pick.
  • The girts came over and we worked on the puzzle together
  • We went to the Apple store, and I got my screen protector replaced. A month or so after I got the phone, I got a big crack across it, and then I chipped a bit out of the side last November (when I was dancing with it in my dress pocket), and I was worried that it might have been the actual screen, but it is not. I am loving pulling out my phone without a crack across the protector and an ugly chip/shattered bit on the side. Plus, I’m relieved. I’m hoping to get many more years out of it.
  • They also bought some yummy cinnamon scrolls.
  • S and I had a Bridgerton binge and watched the last four episodes over the afternoon.

And that is the last of my FIGS for the month, although I will be continuing to tally up all the good things.

  1. The puzzle haul made me laugh. A 1500 and a 2000 piece – it seems like you’re running a second-hand puzzle empire at this point! And I love that the colouring pencils and books are going straight into the church busy bags. Proper treasure hunting with a purpose.

Also, an hour of Jeffing and ticking off streets is such a great way to return to running and to build a good base again.

    1. I will have to take a photo of our puzzle cupboard to share here.

  2. Ooooh thank you so much Melissa, I hope you enjoy it!
Puppy! My SIL got a puppy and wow, I forgot what puppy energy is like. She’s so cute!

    1. We hardly ever see really young puppies out and about because of the vaccination issue so it was a treat.

  3. That post office story would have confused the heck out of me. I love the neighbor meeting. I have a similar screen protector issue on my iPhone. It looks icky and it’s annoying. I’m inspired by your success – maybe I’ll see if they can replace my screen protector too. Lots of good things going on in your world. A meal out with a fun group sounds like a great way to spend a morning.

    1. You should replace the screen protector. It feels like I have a new phone.

  4. Bah, during the break between Bridgerton releases, my daughter decided she wants to rewatch the entire series. So we just finished season 1, and I thought we could get back to the current season. Nope, starting season 2. Sigh.

You have some great FIGS. I would love to see a new puppy!

    1. I won’t tell you what happens then. Although I’m sure you can guess the bare bones.
