I intended to take a break after NaBloPoMo, but not a whole week, so this is a bit of a catch up post.
First up, some photos from Pop and Pour:

To clarify regarding the wedding crashing—we did not eat or drink anything, just hit the dance floor which we had to walk right past as we headed back to our rooms. In our defense, I Gotta Feeling was playing very loudly. Walking on past was not an option.
A few weeks ago Nicole posted about the 100K Step Challenge on Garmin that always has someone who blows everyone else out of the water. I assumed that those people must be runners, but now I have another possibility:

Granted I did do the Parkrun in the morning which was 5K (that first steep uphill), but most of the uphill trajectory was dancing. Maybe the winners of the step count go clubbing a few times a week? Anyway, I’m glad I wore my white leather sneakers instead of my wedge sandals.
The Christmas Tree is up. I almost always put it up on the 1st of December and last Monday all the kids were over for family dinner so it was a group effort.

I have birthday celebrations (for myself) spread out over three weeks this year. On my actual birthday we had work Christmas lunch, then I followed it up in the evening with dinner with my parents and G. The dinner was a last minute addition to the schedule because my parents had some things to do in the city and were staying the night. I got some cash for my birthday and promptly spent it:

I normally track my shoes in Garmin, but I’d forgotten to set up my last everyday trainers when I got them. I think they were well and truly done. These are the replacement and they feel bouncy and soft in just the right way.
Have you put your tree up? Do you have some favourite songs to dance to? Most of mine are 90’s Club Classics, but I also love The Killers and once I get on the dance floor, I’ll dance to anything.

Ha, that step count! I had to laugh – I hit a similar number on Friday, but only because I ran 23 km in the morning. Clearly I should’ve skipped the run and gone dancing instead!
Pop and Pour looks fantastic, especially that breakfast spread…
Are those the Megablast? I’m hunting for a new everyday shoe and always end up back with Asics. I’m in New Balance at the moment and it’s just not doing it for me. Good to hear that you like them!
Yes, last Friday I had a 35,000 step count because I did my long run and then went shopping in the city. The shoes are megablast, I’m enjoying them, I used them on my long run today and they were great. My last few shoes have been either ASICS or New Balance.
That’s a lot of steps!! Great work.
Love the colour of your shoes. How fun (and easy to find in a crowd if you’re ever running a race and people are trying to spot you from a distance)!
Spotting people by their shoes in a race would be hard. I always try for a top that stands out. I have banned our daughter from wearing her black top in races because she is impossible to spot.
That breakfast spread looks amazing. Wow. I love that you joined the wedding for the dance portion. So fun. There are a few songs that I can’t resist, but ask me what they are? I’m not good with knowing names of songs unless I’m hearing them. We haven’t been at a wedding in years, but that’s all about to change. All of our nieces and nephews and our kids’ friends are getting to that age. I think we’ll be attending weddings nonstop. Two nieces (one each – opp sides of the family) getting married in Sept and then Oct. We have like 30 nieces and nephews combined on both sides – all exactly the same ages, although Coach’s brother with 9 kids has some kids that are still very young. We’ll be using our walkers at their weddings.
I love my Asics and meant to post about my replacement pair during NaBloPoMo in a list of 5 things saving my life, but never did. They’re noosa 16 or something. Very colorful, but so comfy.
Tree is bought – it’s fresh so needs to sit in water a day or so. Maybe it’ll go up tomorrow?
All those weddings will be so fun for you, but dress shopping not so much. Will you wear the same dress, since your nieces are on opposite sides of the family? I have 16 nieces and nephews, but E is the first of his generation on either side to get married.
Happy birthday!!!
Clubbing! I didn’t even THINK of clubbing! I’m a big one for 90s dance music too. Are we the same age? I can just picture myself wearing my bodysuit and high waisted jeans with my giant hair. Good times!
I think you might be a year or so younger than me? But I turned 18 at the end of 89 so it was 90’s clubbing all the way.
Happy birthday!!
Your condo is beautiful! Those floor to ceiling windows are wonderful! How fun to have all your kids home to help with the tree! We put ours up extra early but I love the glow of a tree on these dark days. We don’t see much sun and go to work and come home in the dark. The tree helps.
The pop and pour event sounded wonderful! And I bet the wedding attendees were happy to have some extra dancers!! More dancers = more fun!!
The wedding attendees were having a fair bit of fun without us, the bridesmaids, especially, with some twerking and butt slapping! We are the opposite of the tree; we hardly turn the lights on because we forget, since it is light until 9 pm. The big windows in our apartment were a drawcard. We were worried about the light because the apartment faces southeast, but with the big windows, there is plenty of light. We have a massive three-panelled curved window near our dining table which is stunning.
Happy Birthday! I love that you stopped and danced at the wedding!
Thanks.
This December passed me by. It is the 23rd and I still need to catch up on work. The tree was bought. I put it in a pot (we have a potted one this year) and I need to decorated it sometime today.
I hope I will catch a glimpse of your completely decorated tree in upcoming posts.
How fun for your parents to stop by on your birthday and having a spontaneous dinner. And also very very belated birthday wishes.
Thanks Tobia
