  1. What a great list, Melissa. It feels joyful without being overdone, and it really shows how full the year was in all the right ways: travel, family, food, faith, running, and those small everyday pleasures all living happily side by side.

Getting back into running and then delivering a solid 10K and City2Surf is no small thing, nicely done!

2026 is clearly lining up to be an exciting one, starting with THE WEDDING!

    1. It was a very full and enjoyable year. I feel very blessed.

  2. I love you list. It is so inspiring reading through your happiness of this past year. So much moments with family and friends and good food. And I realized a few things should have been on my list but I missed out (NaBloPo, CBWC, etc).

    1. Going back and reliving all the good things in the year is a good mood booster. It helps me appreciate everything I have.

  3. Wow, what a great year you had, Melissa! I am interested to hear more about the HRT and your fatigue, if you ever feel like writing about it (or maybe you did write about it and I missed it, if so, sorry, can you point me in the right direction?)
I am generally dairy-free as well, although I have added some goat cheese back into my diet over the past couple of years. Not a lot, but enough to spark some creamy joy and keep my tummy happy.
What do you have for Christmas lunch?

    1. I don’t think I’ve written much about the HRT, but January and February last year, I was not sleeping well, overheating at night and had bad fatigue with a “can’t be bothered” mood, which was frustrating. Basically, continually feeling premenstrual. Since starting HRT it has reduced to just the normal 3-4 days before I get my period. I don’t feel like it has helped much with the aches and pains or itchy skin, which were my other symptoms.

I gave myself a free pass on the dairy over the Christmas period and did get some hives, but I’m prepared to put up with that occasionally for special occasions. For Christmas lunch, we have turkey and ham, roast potatoes, pumpkin, beans and peas, followed by my Mum’s plum pudding and custard.

  4. Oh, delightful Melissa… it’s really worthwhile sitting down and thinking about all the happy moments of joy from each year. I am thrilled you found so many (and that NaBloPoMo made the list ;)).

    1. Thanks to your hosting, I think there are many of us in blog land who would count NaBloPoMo as a highlight.

  5. Wow, that was some year you had there. Me? I answered 40 Questions to end out the year in a similar manner. And taking care of our health is so important, just ask me after the year I had last year. I’m taking Tobia’s advice and making 2026 the year of curiosity and adventure, and making every minute count.

And here’s hoping 2026 is as fruitful for you as 2025 was!

    1. I hope 2026 is a good year for you. Curiosity is so important and makes life richer.

  6. This is a great list. I am amazed that you found your dress for the wedding at the first shop. All the travels you take continue to amaze me, and how great that you often experience such wonderful weather.

I’ve just realized that I’ve never discussed this here, but I changed my workouts this year – late in the summer maybe? I’m lifting heavier weights, and it’s been tough but I’m noticing the benefits. Our trip to Italy was memorable. Adoption being finalized was pretty momentous.

    1. I am still amazed to have found my dress so quickly. I much prefer lifting fewer lifts of heavy weights to lots of lifts of lighter weights, and it doesn’t take as long either. You have had a pretty momentous year.

  7. What a great year you have had! It’s so wonderful that E landed his dream job! It took me 8 years of working to find mine as I had sigh a wandering path! And he’s getting married! 2026 will be exciting!

I am planning to talk to a doctor about HRT for perimenopause symptoms in 2026. It’s on my 25 in ‘26 list. I’m glad it has been helpful for you!

    1. E had to move through a few different jobs in the industry to work his way into this one. It is definitely worth having a chat with your doctor.

  8. Yay for such a busy wonderful year! Your photos are beautiful. And puffins in the wild! What a wonderful delight.

    1. Yes it was a wonderful year, set against a very worrying backdrop.

  9. What a beautiful year! The Stonehenge photo is stunning, especially. I was in London in October and we had a day trip planned for Stonehenge (and some other places), but had to miss it because my mom got sick. I was so bummed!

So exciting that your son is getting married in 2026! A great milestone. 🙂

    1. I read your recaps from your London trip, and it was a shame about your mum getting sick, but how lucky you got to share your time together in the UK.

  10. Indeed a wonderful year!
I never wrote such a list but some of the things that made 2025 special was 1. Outer banks beach, 2. Our anniversary dinner, 3. Tenure at work, 4. France trip and 5. Seeing my parents in Russia

    1. You did have a wonderful year, even with the challenging times
