Cool Bloggers Walking Club – Week 3

Edited to add that I thought I’d posted this on Wednesday, but apparently not.

Elisabeth has challenged us to do 10 minutes of intentional movement every day in October. Here’s the details from my third week. I was a bit light on the photos this week. I thought I would be able to get a photo of myself doing the Albert Parkrun from their Facebook page but you can’t access public Facebook pages without an account. GRRR!!

Wednesday October 15th – I had a rest day today for running and strength, but Riley had an appointment at the groomer’s so we walked him there, and I picked up a parcel from the post office. Then we had to walk back later in the afternoon to pick him up. I also walked to and from the prayer night at church. Total Steps: 13,849.

Thursday October 16th – We walked Riley to the park and along the beach. In the afternoon I walked to and from church for music practice. Total Steps: 10,472

Friday October 17th – 30 minute easy run with 3 strides. Walked Riley to the park. Total Steps: 9,140

Saturday October 18th – We did the Albert Parkrun (5K), plus a warmup and cooldown. Walked Riley in the afternoon. Total Steps: 13,145

Sunday October 19th – Walked to and from church in the morning and then again in the evening. Total Steps: 8,174

Monday October 20th – Back to a proper week of training this week. Walked to mainly music, then the gym. Did 25 minutes of strength work and then SIT on the treadmill for a total of 32 minutes including warm up and cool down. Walked home. In the afternoon we walked Riley to the park and then went home via the grocer. Total Steps: 19,517

St Kilda Marina

Tuesday October 21st: Monafartlek workout with warm up and cool down. I went along the beach path towards Port Melbourne because it wasn’t horrendously windy, which took me past the marina. Walked to the grocers to pick up a couple of things for dinner. Total Steps: 14,523

  1. Another strong week, Melissa! I wondered briefly what the “SIT” on the treadmill was all about, but I guess it’s sprint intervals or something?

    1. Yes sprint intervals. I do 10X30s with 90s walk break.

  2. Do you not have a FB account? I am so old school that I still communicate with people via mine! (maybe I can find you a photo!)
I was thinking about you on our trip as there were 7 Aussies in our group, and they were the best!

    1. I deactivated my Facebook account because of my disgust for the tech bros, but it is a bit inconvenient sometimes. I still use messenger. Aussies are the best. Actually, we have plenty of ***holes, but I’m so glad you had a good group, that can really lift the experience.

  3. That picture is BEAUTIFUL! The sky! The reflections!

    1. I know, it was so still in there, which made for fabulous reflections.

  4. That photo is so pretty. The water looks unbelievably still.

    1. There was a little bit of wind, but it was very sheltered in the marina.

  5. Great work! And that final picture! The reflection in the water is gorgeous! I love that you can walk to so many places like the groomer and church. We live in a walkable community, too, and also walk to church when the weather cooperates. And I’ve been walking the boys home from school a lot lately while I WFH. It’s such a nice end to the day for them and me! Especially with our peak fall colors.

    1. I love being able to walk most places. It is great for kids to be able to walk place too. Walking home from school is a good decompression.

  6. What a great week, Melissa. And I love the picture!

  7. If a low weeks looks like that for you I am mom definitely not even close to getting in shape. Sigh.
    Congrats on so much walking.

    1. Low just means low in running and strength—I still walk just as much.
