Today’s post is coming to you from … Sydney! We left home at 6 am this morning and 889 km later, arrived at our accommodation at 4:30 pm. We had a couple of very short stops to pick up petrol, use the restrooms and change drivers, with a slightly longer stop for lunch in Gundagai at The Coffee Pedaler. It’s always a reliable place to stop for decent food.
I’d made a reservation for dinner at Fabrica Pasta Shop. I think we may have had the best pappardelle with lamb ragu of our lives. Highly recommended for a casual dinner. We were sitting at their big marble counter in the shop, so you had to prop on the stool with your knees to the side as there’s no overhang, but great if you just want to eat seriously good food. They also had a wide range of wines and other alcoholic beverages, but after the big drive and long runs scheduled tomorrow morning, we continued our abstinence and stuck with zero beer.
Our many plans for last weekend went off without a hitch. I dug deep and pushed hard for the relays on Saturday and was pretty happy with that. We had a lovely dinner with the kids on Saturday night, and I finished a full 20km long run on Sunday. Hubby even squeezed in a nap on Sunday afternoon while I watched the last episode of Outlander. The interview taping was postponed yet again to Thursday morning, when it finally got done.
We’ve struggled to find a dog groomer in our area. They’ve always had closed books or don’t do big dogs. We finally got an appointment with one within walking distance, but it got cancelled. This week he finally made it there, so he was soft and non-smelly for the girls when they picked him up yesterday to take him to stay with them while we are away. On a related note, it is so much easier to get away when we have such willing dog sitters.
We have more yummy food, a scenic run and a museum visit planned for tomorrow, then we hit the road again heading north towards Noosa. What’s happening in your neck of the woods?

Pappardelle with lamb ragu sounds amazing. I love pappardelle – or any kind of “more unusual” pasta shape.. so funny how the shape of pasta can make such a difference in the dining experience 🙂
I didn’t know that you watched Outlander – have you read the books? I have forever been reluctant to watch the show (as I love the books so much and I am currently rereading all of them – I am on book 6), but I have given in finally and started watching the show and I think it’s well done. Book adaptions are always so hard to get right.
I’ve read all the Outlander books. I agree that they’ve done a good job with the TV adaptation.
Have a wonderful trip! I had to google search Noosa- it’s beautiful! In New Jersey this weekend we had rain all day Saturday and a cooler day on Sunday. The kids have a birthday party (neighbor) in a bit but otherwise, it’s pretty low-key here.
I hope all went well for you and you are getting some better weather.
Finding a groomer is SO HARD. We had a great one (walking distance! was so lovely!), but she had a chronic illness and eventually had to close up shop. I’m jealous of your dog sitter, too. That’s one reason we haven’t locked in any travel plans for the summer because we need someone to watch the dog. *sigh* It’s a good thing having pets is 100% worth the inconvenience.
We have used a kennel but I much prefer leaving him with our girls. I was chatting to another owner of a Goldie in the park and he left his dog with a istter near us so we might get the details in case our girls are away at the same time as us. Luckily we often get away to my parents and we can take Riley with us. Riley does make our life richer.
