Friday Thoughts #15

We have arrived in Noosa, not without a little bit of stress. Driving into the Gold Coast late Wednesday afternoon, the engine warning light on the car came on, and it was driving a bit rough. We devised a few different plans to handle it before settling on the best option. We postponed the client visit scheduled for Thursday morning and set off from Main Beach, hoping the car would make it 80km to the Brisbane dealership. Once there, we waited while they scanned the car to check the error, which pointed to a problem with the fuel pump. They were fully booked until next week to look at it further, but we had organised for Hubby’s business partner (also his brother-in-law), who was flying up to meet us to get a bigger hire car and come and pick us up from the dealership. Once he arrived, we transferred our luggage to his car and set off for the next client meeting that morning. They dropped me at the Burnside Tavern round the corner, and I spent the time working until they were finished. Then we headed back up the highway to the Sunshine Coast airport to pick up my sister-in-law. Luckily our friend had made it up from Yamba and met us there to take some of our luggage and Hubby with her so we could fit my sister-in-law and her luggage in the car. We’ll find out next week whether the car will be an easy fix. Luckily we can get by here without a car.

I’ll fill you in on all the fun things we did driving up in subsequent posts.

This morning I picked up my coffee from last year’s favourite, and it’s still good. Our apartment is directly across the road, so pretty convenient.

Not a bad work space. I just need to avoid being distracted by the water views.

Today I did my 2K pre-race day leg loosening run, breakfast, coffee, shower and a trip to the shops to pick up a public transport pass. Next, I’ll finish my work for the week, grab some lunch, and then head down to the beach. We are booked to pick up our bibs for tomorrow’s race at 3 pm. Tomorrow I’ll treat it like a long run with a goal pace last 5km if I can. My six weeks of interrupted training means I’m not quite at PB fitness, so this becomes a training run on my way to hopefully a PB at Gold Coast in five weeks’ time. It’s a good opportunity to get my nutrition, hydration and warm-up sorted as well.

How’s your week been? Do you have a “do every single [X]” project?

Noosa looks very beautiful! New Jersey has a coast but a bit different. Your writing nook is so cozy. Today i am all alone -the kids are in Mass. with T to visit their great grandmother, probably will do some gardening and go toast in a sauna.

I hope you enjoyed your little bit of time to yourself. Noosa is really beautiful, it has a variety of coastline scenery through here so lots to look at.

Ugh, such a bummer about the car. I am sorry you had to deal with this – something like that always happens at the most inconvenient times.

    Enjoy your race! 🙂

Oh, and I love the idea of a “Every Single [X]”project… I think I told you that I had also started to try and run every street in our neighborhood. It has recently fallen by the wayside, but I should pick it back up.
