- Getting back to all our church gatherings: small group, SOS, MLT
- A new small group member
- Getting a tempo run done when I really didn’t want to, and the playlist that helped me do it. I rarely run with music but it hit the spot that morning.
- Breakfast at The Guilty Moose. It’s a fairly regular visit when we’re home and they have a number of unusual breakfasts. I enjoyed the Hare Krishna—curried potatoes, pickled onion, peanuts, kasundi, yoghurt, poached egg and roti bread. YUM!
- Catching up with my sister. We quickly got the actual reason for my visit—showing her how to clean her rangehood—out of the way, so we could sit and chat over a cuppa.
- A surprise catch up with my other sister and her family. They rang up to see if we were home but we were at the girls so they dropped in there instead. As an added bonus they got to see the girls apartment for the first time.
- My Silvan Berry jam on toast. I’d been working through our apricot jam but our daughter wanted jam one day when she was visiting and doesn’t like apricot jam so she opened a jar and I’ve been indulging myself.
- Eating lemons from our tree and the radishes I planted before we went to the UK.

- Catchup dinner with good friends. Hearing about their trip to Japan, telling them about our trip to the UK.
- We had a long weekend (King’s Birthday) which was very, very rainy but we made the most of it. On the Saturday morning the rain held off long enough so that I was turned around and the wind was at my back—a much better prospect than driving rain being blown straight into my face. Then Sunday the rain mostly held off until we were finished our long runs.
- Spending the rainy Saturday afternoon with the girls having an Andor marathon to finish the series, then watching Rogue One in the evening.
- Brunch for our daughter H’s birthday. At her request we met back in our old neighbourhood at one of her favourite cafes.
- My parents gave me and my siblings a voucher for accommodation and meal in the Grampians. I managed to find a date in October that worked with my two sisters and we all booked to do it together.
- Picking the last of the green tomatoes and making green tomato relish.

- Family dinner at a new restaurant for H’s birthday dinner.
- Wedding dress shopping with my son’s fiancee. She had success!
- Turning all my training runs on my program green. The mileage on my plan topped out at 56K and now I’m in taper. I’m not running fast but it was a good solid block of training.
- Riley finally getting smart and using his kennel regularly in the cold weather.

- Anticipating being in warm weather next week. We leave to drive north on Monday.
- But we have had some stunning, if cold, mornings here.

- The Senior Pastor at our old church is finishing up after 30 years there and they had a big celebration dinner that we went to. The Senior Pastor married us quite early on in his time at the church, dedicated all three of our kids and will be marrying our son next February. It was a wonderful night and we also caught up with old friends who we hadn’t seen since in quite a while.
And some bonus good things:
- Watching: Department Q on Netflix, Silo and Murderbot on Apple TV
- How to Make the Most of a Trip to the Art Museum

You had me at wedding dress! Squeeeeee!!!
So many lovely things, Melissa! I love that we are in opposite seasons, it’s so fun to see what’s going on when it’s winter in Australia!
I don’t know what Silvan berries are – I bet your jam is delicious!
Wedding dress shopping was great, but I’m not really looking forward to shopping for my dress. Silvan berries are a blackberry variation. They make excellent jam.
many, many wonderful, beautiful things. The wedding dress. Pastor retiring and celebrating his service. Conserving veggies and fruit. Radishes! When was little I would eat radishes with salt like candy 😉 I would just pop them in my mouth lol
I always forget how easy and quick radishes are to grow, otherwise I would make sure I have a constant stream of them. As you say, so easy to eat.
Yes, so many things here. Those radishes look good- I’ve been putting them in my salads lately. And… green tomato relish- yum!
When is the wedding??? That’s exciting!
It sounds like your running is going well, hooray. It’s hard for me to imagine cold weather at this point- it looks really nice.
I like growing these french radishes because they are milder than the standard ones. The wedding is Valentine’s Day 2026.
This reads so happy. Love all of it. Am a bit envious of your radishes as mine didnt turn out last year and I didnt even bother to try this year.
Yeah for wedding dress shopping. Also that sky line photo.
That’s weird that your radishes didn’t grow. Did the seeds sprout? I literally threw these in the ground before I left for the UK so I can’t really take much credit.
