101 Things in 1001 Days: 100-Day Check-in

I started my 101 Things list on September 11th this year. It’s my way of making sure I’m not falling into rut and keep welcoming all the little (and big) things that make life richer. I’ve decided to do an update on my progress every 100 days. I even marked the dates on my calendar. Here goes:

We now have shade over our table
  • Reading and Writing
    • Read 120 books – I’ve read four books since I started, which is less than I would normally read because my reading was severely curtailed with travel and NaBloPoMo. (3%)
    • 50 Lists Blog Project – I started this a couple of weeks ago and have done two posts. (4%)
    • Do NaBloPoMo – Complete. I did this in November
  • Running and Fitness – nothing complete in this category. I have recently started a beginners marathon training plan. This is a test to see how my body reacts to marathon training and build a better base. If all goes well I’ll look at signing up for a mid-2024 marathon.
  • Home
    • Install an awning over our table – Complete. We ordered it before we went away and got it installed once we were home.
  • Sustainablity
    • Get a bike – Complete. G gave it to me for my birthday and Christmas present
    • Get ten things second-hand instead of new – We got four puzzles from the op shop, but I think we’ll be getting a lot of puzzles so I’ll count these as one. I also got a T-shirt from the op shop and a second-hand copy of The Catcher in the Rye in New York City. (30%)
  • The Neighbourhood
    • Finish walking/running every street in Elwood, Brighton and Gardenvale. Citystrides tells me that I’ve done 279/382 streets. (73%)
    • Go to five neighbourhood, talks, festivals or activities – I went to an author talk on researching local history with Laraine Stephens at Brighton Library. (20%)
    • Try five new neighbourhood restaurants – We went to Sons of Mary with my parents and G and I had a date night at Bistro La Provence (40%)
  • Melbourne and Surrounds
    • Try five new restaurants – We went to Park St Pasta and Wine with my parents and I took the family to Indu for mine and E’s birthday. (40%)
  • Travel
    • E’s Germany trip – complete.
    • Travel for two of Hubby’s marathons – New York is done. (50%)
  • Faith
    • Get a mainly music group up and running – we are on the final leg of this. (70%)
    • Read the bible in a year – this will be in a yearish … but I started on Sunday. (1%)
  • Community
    • Giveaway some produce from my garden – Complete. I gave away a bunch of herbs in Spring when they were growing crazily,
  • Experience
    • Go to a live show (x4) – We went to &Juliet in New York. (25%)
    • See some live music – Complete. We went to some Blues music in New York.
    • Internet free days (x15) – I’ve had one on 30th September. (7%)
  • Food
  • Family and Friends
    • Small gatherings (x10) – I class small gatherings as anything where we can all fit around our dining table which normally seats ten. We’ve had a friend over for dinner and we’ve had our small group end-of-year get-together. (20%)
    • Celebration night for each family member’s birthday. We’ve done S in September and E and I had a joint one because we were away in November for his birthday. (21%)
    • Family 2000-piece puzzles (x5) – we’ve already done 2 2000-piece and a 3000-piece. (60%)

I calculate that as 11.73% complete, so on track.

Do you have a 101 list/bucket list? What are the things you like to do or would like more of in your life?

  1. I’ve never done this because I honestly can’t think 101 things! I love to read posts like this, so I’m excited you’re going to update your progress regularly.

    1. Well you can see that many of the things are not that ground breaking. I won’t do a yearly goals list now that I have this.

  2. What a fun concept – I don’t have a 101 list (but I do have a list of 100 Dreams which is kinda similar).

That puzzle makes me want to see the Great Wall SO BADLY!

    1. The 100 dreams list is very similar to this, except in this you can’t include the really long-range things. I went to the Great Wall 23 years ago in November so there was snow. It did not look like this, LOL. But it was still impressive.
