    My ballooning current reading list

Partway through this year, I decided I wanted to do less scrolling and more reading real books. I always make sure I have a variety of books on the go, and usually one ready to slot in when I finish a book. I’ve got into a bit of a routine with my reading but in the last month, my current reading list has ballooned. In the morning, as part of my quiet time, I read a chapter of some kind of theology book. My current read is Coming Home by Jonathon Cornford. I also have Turning of Days on my list. It has readings broken up into seasons, and my…

We have vacated the premises …

our furniture is in our apartment, and we are in our temporary accommodation while we wait for the titles office to do their job so we can settle on the apartment. Disappointed not to be in our apartment, but we are planning on making the most of our city stay.

    Garden Goals

The apartment we are about to move into has a very large outdoor area. It’s actually larger than the inside! The garden has been planted out with a fairly generic, low-maintenance garden. This is fine but won’t really meet what we want from that space, so we will make some changes once we move in. To guide the changes we have several goals: Do you like to get into the garden?

    Good News

I’m certain that I was feeling crap last Thursday because of the COVID vaccination. By Friday I was starting to feel better. Yesterday I did my 20km long run, and today, I did a 6km recovery run. I did feel a bit flat yesterday, but I think I was a bit under-fueled. The post-run brekkie burger hardly hit the sides. I’ve decided to wait to continue building my distance until after we’ve moved, and I have more margin in my life for recovery. So far, NaBloPoMo is going well. I have one post already waiting to publish and a few more ideas … so I should be able at least…

    Let me ask you this

Let me ask you this.Do you also think that beauty exists for some fabulous reason? And, if you have not been enchanted by this adventure— your life—what would do for you? To Begin With, The Sweet Grass by Mary Oliver Superb Fairy Wrens were crowned the Australian 2021 bird of the year, and I can understand why. They are certainly my favourite local bird. The males have beautiful blue plumage, and the little birds certainly are “tiny little balls of pure joy.” We used to have a group come each year into the wattle at the back of my childhood home, but I hadn’t seen a blue one since my…

    I don’t know whether …

this is foolish or not, but I’ve decided to attempt NaBloPoMo as a way to kick my blogging into gear and try a few different posts that I’ve been thinking about. The idea is to post every day for the month of November, although I’ve already failed because I decided to join in late. My first post was on November 2nd 😞. Here’s looking forward to a 29-day streak. Sign up at San’s blog.

    Trying to work out …

whether I’ve caught my daughter’s cold or I’m feeling crap because of the COVID booster I had yesterday afternoon. I’m hoping it’s the latter because then the worst should be over in a day or so, although I did have lingering fatigue for 1-2 weeks with the other shots. We have to pack up the house and move this week, so I’d prefer not to be sick as well. It’s probably not the best timing for the shot, but I became eligible after our bout with COVID the week before my half-marathon race in October and wasn’t going to jeopardise my shot at a PB. (Which was successful, by the…
