While I was in the city last week I picked up some cute postcards. One of these is already on the way to Kyria. If you would like to receive some snail mail from me let me know. Email me if you’ve got my email or pop a note in the comments and I’ll be in touch.

I track the kilometres my shoes have done with my Garmin. I’m not particularly hard on my shoes so I normally set the max use at around 650km. I’ve been wearing the Megablast and they are still going strong after that but they will not make it to the marathon in September. So, on Sunday, G and I went to the Running Company and I got a pair of Mizuna WaveSky for my easy runs and I got myself another Megablast to see me through this training block. I’ll probably use my new Megablasts once before Gold Coast and then for the race and then put them away until the others are worn out.

There’s nothing like a deadline to kick my butt into gear. We leave on the weekend to head north for six weeks so I’ve been furiously deep cleaning the house, including a few jobs I’d put off. I’ve also been doing some gardening and put together a support for my peas that was past due. The clean house is a little gift to my future self and the good thing is that since E has moved out it will still be clean when I arrive home.
The council had put up signs all along the coastal path where I did my run yesterday advertising the latest exhibition at the Bayside Gallery. I was intrigued so when I dropped my books at the library today I popped next door to have a look. A little information from the website:
Max Dupain (Australia, 1911–1992) and Ansel Adams (USA, 1902–1984) shaped the visual identity of their respective nations through the lens of modernist photography. Though working on opposite sides of the Pacific, they shared a profound commitment to formal clarity, tonal precision, and the expressive potential of light.
This exhibition brings Dupain’s iconic modernist studies of Australia’s built environments together with Adams’ majestic portrayals of the American wilderness in a compelling and illuminating pairing. These images are shown alongside works by their peers, including portraits and still lifes, to contextualise their place the development of twentieth-century photography.

I love Ansell Adams photography and Max Dupain’s was stunning as well. The way they capture light is breath taking. I loved the way the curators had juxtaposed photos by Ansell of nature against Dupain’s architectural photos that contained similar forms.

And finally some recent additions to my good list:
- Helpful man in the hardware store who made a suggestion for my trellising that required I buy less not more.
- Follow-up blood tests normal
- Opening the (sheer) curtains, I forget how different it makes the living area feel. I love both ways but need to remember to open the curtains some of the time.
- Getting a longer run done.
- Getting out on my bike on a beautiful sunny day
- Squeezing in a meet with Elsa after church. We’ve been trying for weeks.
- Getting home and finding G had prepared our session for SOS
