How did I go? – The Cool Bloggers Walking Club

At the start of April, Elisabeth invited us to join her, walking for ten minutes each day for the month. Since I almost always walk or run for ten minutes every day I figured this would be easy and I decided to join all the other cool kids. Ambitiously I decided to pair it with my A-Z photography project. The aim was to look out for things starting with all the letters of the alphabet while out on my walks. I started well until I hurt my foot running. Of course, at first, that didn’t stop me, but as the month wore on, I had to have a few rest days … and then some more rest days … until I went to the physio, and she said no more running or walking for the next week. At first, I continued to get outside, subbing in my bike for my runs but no photographing, but then I got a cold, which brought me through to the end of April. So, after a strong start, the photographing petered out first because I just couldn’t get out as far as I wanted and then the walking followed soon after.

In the end, walked 18 days and went out on the bike another three days. I took photos for twelve letters, but I’ve written down ideas for most of the rest, so once I can walk properly again, I will finish my A-Z project. Here’s what I’ve got so far …

Banksia flowers. Dogs, and lots of them in the park every morning and afternoon. Footpath repairs were much needed. Gum Tree Good Food is about 600m from us and stocks all sorts of gourmet goodies as well as fresh fruit, meat, bread and deli items. Kiosk near the dog-off lead area at Elwood beach, unfortunately the coffee is not good. Little library. Ormond Point. Park—Elsternwick Park to be exact, is our local off-lead dog park. Train station. Underpass, covered in bright street art. Waves, sometimes depending on the wind and tide. Zebra crossings.

Did you join in with Elisabeth? Do you normally walk every day or most days? What’s your favourite way to get outside?

I’m so sorry about your injury but love how you paired these two activities!

I did walk every day and there were definitely days I wouldn’t have gotten outside to walk if it weren’t for the “challenge” so it was a personal success for me when I really needed one!

That’s great Elisabeth. That’s the beauty of setting a little bit of a challenge for ourselves, it provides a little bit of extra momemtum for doing the things that we need and want to do.

The CBWC was such an inspired idea! I walk most days, but it felt fun to do it in community and report back! I love that you paired it with the A to Z activity.

So sorry it didnt go as planned. Specially after starting out strong. But if the body needs rest it needs rest. But its so tough sometimes to comply.
Love the photography project. I also have an A-Z challange where I want to photograph every letter. Ive started but have no idea what leters ive done and which ones are missing. I guess i should sort that out.
