    Good Things Friday

Rounding up all the good things this week. I wrote that sentence last week and then got so busy, I’m now rounding up the good things from the last two weeks. These two weeks have been a little chaotic at times. We had some pretty wild weather last week, with our state experiencing the worst power outages in many years. More than 550,000 homes and businesses were without power due to damaged powerlines and poles. Then, massive transmission line towers blew down and the resulting disruption in the grid caused our biggest powerplant to trip. To protect the rest of the grid another 90,000 homes lost power due to deliberate…

    Good Things Friday

A few of the good things from my week … Cutback Week with Albert Parkrun Last weekend I was still on my cutback week for running, which I love. It meant I had a shorter long run, which gave me a chance to do something different. I switched my long run to Saturday because the weekend was going to be hot but it was starting with a lovely cool morning on Saturday. I ran from home to the Albert Parkrun. This is the biggest Parkrun in Australia and last Saturday there were 956 participants. I ran the 5K loop at about what I think will be marathon pace, then after…

    Hiking @ Ferny

I’ve mentioned before that my husband has moved to a 4-day work week and I work casual hours from home, so some weeks we can do some fun things during the week. Last Friday I wanted to hike, and G had been wanting to take me up to Ferny to show me the running trail so I don’t get lost when I go up with the crew to run. The weather was lovely for hiking—about 22C and fluffy clouds dotted in a blue sky. A lot of the trail is in the Dandenong Ranges National Park. The Dandenong ranges are on the outskirts of Melbourne, about 30km from us and…

    January’s Books

Starsight – Brandon Sanderson This is the second book in the Skyward series. Spensa is flung into a whole new world in this book in the series. While I missed the characters from the first book, it was good to find out more about the universe beyond the confines of the protective layer around Detritus. Spensa makes all new friends, and some more enemies, of course. Partway through reading this, I wondered to myself why I was finding it so hard to stop reading and go to bed, and then I realised that almost every chapter ends with a cliffhanger. Great for my enjoyment, but not so great for my…

    Good Things Friday

Today I have two weeks’ worth of good things because last Friday was a … Public Holiday Australia Day was last Friday which meant we had a long weekend, so we drove down to my parents at Point Lonsdale. One of my sisters and her family were also there. The weather was not hot, but it was very pleasant. We did lots of just hanging round. I did a hilly long run, up the Bellarine Rail Trail, and we had lunch outside before heading home on Sunday. Oh, and my mum and nephew bought home the golf trophy from their competition on Sunday. My worm farm My nifty worm farm…
