Good Things Friday

So this week, my foot has not improved, and now I have a cold, so it’s not great, but I went to the physio this morning and have a plan for the week, which is a good thing. I will need to be off my feet just in case it is a stress reaction in the bone, so no running or walking for me, but I can ride and go to the gym once I’m over my cold. I also have some non-weight-bearing exercises in case it is the tendons. We will reassess next week, and if it’s not getting better, I’ll need to go for an MRI. In spite of these setbacks there has still been some good things.

Angela Taylor Memorial Run/Walk

The weather was perfect—cool, still and cloudy.

This has become a bit of a tradition for us. One of our friends is a cop and puts in a team each year. We did the 10 km run. It’s around Albert Park Lake, and this year, I made it part of my long run. I parked near where we planned to meet for breakfast afterwards, ran to the start, entered the race and then did a lap of the lake. Then it was two laps for the race and run back to breakfast for a total of 20 km. It’s been a couple of weeks since my last long run, but I got it done. Afterwards, we went to Jack the Geezer for breakfast. I had their eggs benedict, with bacon and avocado on potato rosti. Yum! Edited to add: I wrote this paragraph on Monday and haven’t run since.

Sunset over the Water

On Monday, the weather was warm, and the sky was kind of clear, so we decided to go to the water before dinner to see if we could see the devil comet. So, there were clouds on the horizon where the comet was going to be, and we were a bit early. We stayed as long as we could, but I had to get back and finish cooking dinner. The sunset was pretty spectacular though.

Finished Puzzles

The girls spent a big chunk of Sunday at our place, Monday evening, and then Thursday, which was the Anzac Day public holiday, so we got two puzzles finished. The first was the Dome of St Peters. It’s a 1500-piece puzzle that I found at the Op Shop. I immediately snapped it up because we went there in 2016 with our eldest. Unfortunately she didn’t remember it, she could only remember the outside of St Peter’s even though we went up into the dome. The puzzle was pretty difficult with all the gold pieces, but very pretty. The second one, S picked up from the Sacred Heart Opshop when she was volunteering there. It was also a 1500-piece but had three pieces missing. We’ve decided that we don’t mind too much when there’s a piece missing, and we know not to spend too much time searching for any particular piece.

Bonus Good Things

This is Riley. Here he is with RaRa, a puppet lion generously gifted by our son. All of Riley’s toys are old kids’ toys.

How’s your week been? Have you been doing/reading/seeing anything interesting lately?

I am with Elisabeth… those eggs. I want some now please.

Always amazed with the puzzle frenzy going on and the speed you are doing them. I thought I was fast with mine but I only do my puzzle once a year. And the one with St. Peters is amazing. I can see its a tough one.

That sunset is gorgoues. Is that the skyline of Melbourne?

Also I love that photo challange – obviously – as I am doing a similar one. I just feel this photographer has picked a better spot.

Now I am going to read the link about thinking and writing.

My eldest daughter is the main driver of the puzzle frenzy, but I am glad because it encourages them to spend more time at our place.

The spot the photographer picked has so much change in the light and vegetation, it’s amazing. I’m trying to think where would be a good spot near me. We have the beach, canal and wetlands which all change quite a bit with the conditions.

So many wonderful things!! The sunset photos are true postcards and Riley is just so cuddly.
That’s a great idea for a photo challenge, but do I have the motivation do go through with it? Probably not.
Week was a-okay! New Jersey has nice, warn, sunny weather this time of year and I’m here for it. Except for all the pollen, it is everywhere.
