Georgetown Food Tour – Sun 29th October

My husband had a 20km run on his program for today so he got up and did that in the morning. When I woke I wasn’t feeling that great. I wasn’t sure whether I was coming down with something or the sore throat and blocked nose was just due to being very tired, which sometimes happens with me. I decided not to go running and lazed around the hotel. Luckily we didn’t have a big day of sightseeing planned. By the time we were due to go out I was feeling better.

In the afternoon we walked across to the meeting spot for our Georgetown Food Tour. We try to do food tours in most new places we go. We like them because generally the guide will tell you about the food, the culture and the history of a place all wrapped up with yummy food tastings. It also means that you get to try a wider range of food than would be possible on a limited time frame. This tour hit all three of history, culture and food. We stopped at four food spots and in between explored the streets.

The food we ate on the tour was pumpkin soup, pumpkin and feta tart (this was my favourite), meatballs, three types of pizza, falafel and crème brûlée. Hubby had to take his falafel home to finish later but I managed to finish everything. In the morning I’d just had a wholemeal English muffin with raspberry jam. To give you an idea of the amount of food on the tour, it covered me for lunch and dinner, so not small portions!

I enjoyed checking out the Halloween decorations. …

and the historic streets.

Wow, this looks awesome. The tour sounds fun (I LOVE falafel!) I guess I wouldn’t do an organized food tour like this because I’m vegan and I doubt they would cater to that, BUT I’ve definitely done my own “food tours” of cities. It’s a fun way to get familiar with a place.

I’ve never taken a food tour, but it does look like a lot of fun! Georgetown is great. I mean, I’ve only been there once, but I liked it. 🙂 If you see Shrimp and Grits on a menu while you’re there, give that a try. It’s delicious!

I have never done a food tour but I can see the appeal on exploring a city or country this way. You probaly do get some local dishes and they are good not like when you are tryingt to find that on oyur own. I do try to taste local food where ever I am. Unfortunately the gusband is not so adventurous so it is not always easy to find a place we both enjoy.

    The pictures are amazing again.

Woah, look at these giant spiders. While I prefer the (funny) skeleton displays for Halloween, but these oversized decorations are so fun too.

And the food! Wow. I have never done a food tour and I should put that on my bucket list.
