Good Things Friday

By the time this is published, I’ll be jetting across the ocean … so that’s one good thing.

Fresh Haircut

I finally got my haircut and coloured. It’s been on my list for a while. The hairdresser looked back at my file and my last cut was April. When they blow dry my hair, it stays good for a few days and I got many compliments over the weekend. But I forgot to take a photo.

Alpha Day Away

The Alpha course usually includes a weekend away but for many people that’s difficult. We just did one day. We went to a school near the church with a really lovely staff room we could use and a beautiful chapel. It was a very rich day, with lots of good conversations and powerful experiences of prayer.

After dinner walk

Now that it’s daylight savings, after-dinner walks are back on the table. It’s a relaxing way to end the day, even when the weather is a bit wild like it was last Saturday.

My long-purple flags

Such a pretty colour.

Platinum Frequent Flyer Status

My husband’s, not mine. Wednesday night we received a text that our flight from Sydney to New York was cancelled and Qantas was trying to book us on another flight. A little bit later my husband received a text saying he was rebooked on a flight via LA on Friday morning. A little later again I received a text saying I was booked on a flight leaving Friday night. My husband decided to ring QANTAS to get it changed. Now, there have been many. many stories in the news of people trying and trying to get through to QANTAS’ customer service, hanging on the line for hours and often after many hours being cut-off. My husband’s platinum status put him through on a priority line and after about a 15-minute wait he got through. The person on the other end was friendly, helpful and competent (not always a given in these situations) and got us all sorted, with me on the flight and even my preferred middle aisle seat. So two good things really. Hopefully we’ll have a little bit of time to enjoy the lounge.

CUT Flowers from the garden

I was doing a very basic tidy-up of the garden before I leave, which required a big trim of our everlasting daisies, so I bought some inside. I love how bright and happy they look.

How’s your week been? Do you remember to get regular haircuts? What are your good things?

Have a great time in New York! I love getting my hair done. I had it done in August before my vacation, and I’m due soon. Trying to put it off until mid November. When I have it done every 6 or 8 weeks, it looks best, but it’s so expensive, I try to make it 10 to 12 weeks if I can.

I got my COVID booster yesterday, and I’m feeling OK, which is a good thing. Pizza for dinner tonight I think, also good.

I generally only get my hair cut twice a year – no colour, just a wash, cut and dry. Next Friday I’m getting it cut AND I’m getting a keratin relaxer treatment. My hair dries in big frizzy waves and it’s so obnoxious to deal with. So I am going to get it cut back into a bob (I generally do this once a year), but HOPEFULLY this fancy treatment will make it so much easier to manage my hair. I hate spending any time on hair care, and this is supposed to allow me to truly wash and wear which I could do currently but would look a bit like Albert Einstein with hair everywhere. I am SO excited as this is a first time experience for me.

Love all the happy things. Hope the trip is wonderful; I also have an elite status with Air Canada because of my husband’s frequent flyer program. It is a huge perk, for sure, and does make travelling a lot easier, especially with lounge access! It’s the little things that can be really big things (for example, he never gets bumped off over-full flights because of his priority).

    Those flowers are gorgeous.

Ooh, you’re going to New York! Is it a business trip for your husband? I hope you guys have fun!
I’m really tierrible about getting my hair cut, and I need it desperately right now. I might take a risk and let my daughter do it (ha, why do I feel like this is a decision I’ll bitterly regret? Oh well… what’s the worst that could happen…)
Those flowers are beautiful- purple and yellow, I love that combination.
