Good Things Friday

Queenscliff on my longrun

POINT LONSDALE

It feels like ages since we were last in Point Lonsdale. Looking back through my photos, the last time was the Labour Day weekend in March. The whole family has been down and it has been great to catch up. As usual, the holidays involve lots of cooking, afternoon naps, reading books, going for seaside runs and sitting around either inside or outside and chatting.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS WITH A 3-YEAR-OLD IN THE MIX

Four households under one roof make a lot of presents. My sister has a three-year-old so we were back to having the excitement of a young child around. She first woke at 4 am, but my sister made her go back to sleep. It’s a bit different to the teenagers and young adults who wander down once they finally wake up (although Grandma expects that breakfast will be done by 8 am). My little niece was very excited about her first bike. Her present opening continued throughout the morning.

FESTIVE TABLES

My niece was in charge of the table decorations this year and she did a stellar job. With a purple and green colour scheme, and vases of lavender on the tables it looked spectacular. She has quite a talent for this type of thing.

ALL THE FOOD

Our Christmas Eve Spread. Deconstructed Nicoise Salad and Prawns with Mango Salsa

I’ve already written about our Christmas Day Food, but we don’t confine our feasting to Christmas Day. We had two lovely meals at the Golf Course and cooked lots of good food.

STRAWBERRY PICKING

I took my eldest and my nephew strawberry picking on Saturday. They restricted us to one container though, normally we’d get two.

How has your week between been? Have you had time to relax?

Aw… Christmas with a three-year-old is so fun. Glad they managed to get her back to bed at 4 am though.
I love the table decorations! I’m a big fan of purple, and it’s really pretty.

That table display is extraordinary. As you know, I don’t do much in terms of setting a fancy table so this is putting me to shame. Just love it. And that chocolate house is brilliant. I could do that with Kit-Kat bars, I bet?! So pretty and much easier than gingerbread.

Christmas is so fun with little ones. I’m glad you were able to celebrate with a tot in the mix; it makes the holiday extra magical.

And all the food looks phenomenal.

Also, I’m jealous of strawberry picking. We have snow on the ground today, so that is a looonnnggg way off for us here in Canada.

I love festive tables. My family is big on the table setting for Christmas as well and it’s part of Christmas for me (when we don’t see them for Christmas, I do try to make it nice just for Jon and me but it’s not the same as a long table with the whole family!).
